A lot of work. It's appreciated.
The problem with measuring 2nd rounders is the same sometimes as 1st rounders---often, they're kept around just based on the hope they will live up to expectations.
True. That can be an issue with any premium draft pick.
I tried to account for that by only counting starters and significant contributors in production as hits. The vast majority drafted in '12 and '13 are still in the league. IOW, they have been kept around but if they aren't starting or providing a significant contribution in production, they got filtered out.
Thanks for the feedback.
Yeah that came across as "feedback" but really I was just thinking out loud.
I was just thinking about Gamo's point that a starter is not always really a hit. Which I have no doubt you accounted for in your analysis.
It goes the other way too, cause a cut player is not always a bust (I am thinking of things like system-fit cuts).
Yeah like Alexander. I have no doubt if GW stayed the DC he would be considered a hit because he started all 16 games and played at a very high level in 2016.
When the system changed, he got removed. That's not really a fair indicator on whether Snead did his job in that case or not.
However, accounting for those things is difficult and takes time. I went with the simplest system I could of saying 'who started?', 'who significantly contributed in production?' That's something I could do in 20 minutes or so...
When you have 5 or 6 years to look at it like we do here, I'm thinking it would be pretty accurate to do it that way.
