My initial reaction was I hated losing that 1st rounder. Still do as a matter of fact.
My concerns are no different than anybody else:
1) If they don't resign him, the trade was a bad trade.
2) Will he be satisfied with his target load? We don't know what that will be yet but if last season with Sammy was any indication, he may not be getting as many as he thinks he should get.
On the plus side of the ledger:
1) He's a proven performer at the NFL level.
2) FAST!
3) Good hands.
4) Durable (so far)
On the debate of paying Sammy vs. paying Cooks. Sammy got $16MM from KC. Obviously the Rams didn't think he was worth that much. If the Rams end up paying Cooks $16MM, or thereabouts, then obviously they would think he is worth that much. That's simply my opinion and speculation, nothing more.
Bottom line is, we just have to wait to see how the season goes, and see how Cooks does in this offense. I'm pretty stoked about our team right now and can't wait for the season to start, but I do have some cap concerns moving forward.
