Look. I'm not the sort to go crazy reacting to a deal like this, one way or the other. And I give the FO a lot of props for being aggressive this off season, for not thinking they can play last year's hand again.
I also don't know anything about this guy and I figure not many of the ravers or the bashers can actually foresee the outcome very well.
But I don't really like this trade for 2 reasons:
1. I don't figure our WR corps is weak enough to justify giving up a #1. I just don't see that.
2. I don't like giving up the #23, where it's entirely possible we could have addressed one of our positional weaknesses.
And we do have positional weaknesses. LBs. Edge rusher. And, the one that scares me, LOT depth.
Now, LBs are a fairly common body type, and I believe Wade has a track record of doing fine with grunts. But edge rushers are harder to find. We have some promising youth, but how good will they be and where is the depth?
LOT? Well. That position scares the crap out of me. If Whit, an aging man, can't go the whole year, what do we do? And what do we do next year?
I dunno if we'd have been able to find a good LOT prospect at LOT. But, I'd sure like to have had the chance.
I don't see another WR as worth the #23. I just don't.
