I don’t think that the Cooks trade was a desperate move, at all. It was a bold seize-the-moment trade with inherent good value. I do agree that extending Cooks is essential.
This whole offseason has been a series of extensions of good players, four trades for elite players, plus the signing of Suh (another elite). Bold moves, indeed. And bold moves have some risks attached. Otherwise, the unbold teams would be making them.
Well, here’s a newsflash. Unbold teams aren’t likely to make it to the SB.
This current NFC is tough at the top. I mean, REAL tough. I think the Rams felt that the bold moves were necessary in order to truly compete with the likes of the Eagles, Vikings, and maybe the Saints. Winning the division and only advancing to the first round of the playoffs is no longer enough.
I applaud the Rams for these moves. I’ll always choose to go down, if necessary, with both six guns blazing.
