what IF the rams had gone 8-8 last year and didn't make the play-offs??
What would the feeling on the board? in the NFL?..thots of other teams?,etc......be towards the Rams ???
I've been trying to
quantify the 11-5 season & playoff appearance
(cuz we only just showed up LOL)...what was the value of that season last year????
What does it mean to us???? How does it affect our team's ability to recruit FAs??? Or re-sign our own???? I dunno, I'm still trying to understand.
I DO NOT LIKE 1yr rentals...I wanted Sammy long term....but Sammy enabled us to score an do well even if he wasn't a complete fit.
I think he was...but only McVay knows the answer to that. Okay.
So, we are coming up on trying to re-sign all these players in house...sans Suh.
It could be argued that many of our players are Top 5 at their position with some being the best or Top3 at their position.
We HAVE to give out monies allocated by the CBA until 2020.
I'd rather try and give obscene salaries
to guys that have proved they are worth it than medium players(Tru).
IF, the Rams are looking at it like that...short &
Long term...then I'm okay with these gambles. If they are only looking short term, I wonder about that strategy,
but then I try and quantify what last year did for us in terms of ...well, everything....and it's hard to do.
IF we can get Cooks signed long term
(market value or just above, most likely) along with what we have now at WR...that would be a good thing as most agree Cooks has proven he's a very good 1 trick pony....I know it's just
one trick, but it's
a helluva trick!!
I have a feeling much of this strategy is in context with the coming 2020 CBA deal or REAL potential of a lockout - ala 1987 player strike. iirc
