1. Do you personally feel that McVay is on the same level as Mangini as far as coaching ability goes? I'm not talking about overall records, I'm talking about as an overall coach.
You have to go back in time, how was Mangenius thought of at the time? Now? He's a bust of a coach. Then? A Belichick protege. I thin in April after the first year, he would have been thought of as having equal or even greater coaching skills than McVay, having more of a resume. So, my point is that while Mangini is a joke now, he wasn't then, and for us to be arrogant and just assume this can never happen here is problematic. Now, I don't expect the wheels to come off, but my expectations of this program getting better don't mean it will happen. My hopes don't make it so. He was called "Mangenius" for a reason, they THOUGHT he was a good coach, a Coach of the Year, even, but they were wrong. The wheels came off.2. Also, talent for this to be an apples to apples comparison, do you also feel that the level of players on the Jets back then and the Rams now compare equally?
I think Ras have more talent on offense, Goff and Gurley, but Jets had what was considered good talent on defense if you count the number of 1st and 2nd round picks that started3. Could Reid's style of offense be a better fit for Watkins skills than McVay's? Thus KC be willing to pay more for that type of receiver?
What matters is if their new QB will take shots and get the ball close He was the so-called river boat gamblet typle in college, we will see if he can play on the big stage But yes, I think Watkins, for those who love numbers, will put up bigger numbers than he did in LA But it will not be because he is "better" it will be because he has a QB who will sling it to him.4. I really liked Watkins, so it was hard for me to see him go. All the film reviews you did on him showed that his football numbers didn't show his full value. But could his non-resigning be because of his health or ability to process the playbook?
I don't think either of those. I think Chiefs saw his value and outbid Rams. So, Rams trade for Cooks Cooks will want maybe $14 mil, from what I have read, he will get it when the time is right He is a good deep threat and worth a #1 pick but he won't be a tough receiver in red zone using strength to box out defenders on slant routes.
