5 Million seems like a fair deal for both sides. If we cut Austin our dead money would have been $5 Mil. New contract lets us keep him and if he works our he can earn a little extra. If we end up cutting him it cost the same as if we cut him earlier. At least this way McVay can see if he can figure out how to use Austins skills with a full training camp and mini camp schedule.
I also think that McVay will spend some time this offseason figuring out how to get production out of Austin. Get his confidence up and get him the ball in space and watch out. He can be a playmakers. Anyway it was worth the restructure as the costs were the same and we had nothing to lose.
