You're right, Tavon's 5 M was guaranteed a long time ago and the point of keeping him was that it is going to cost the Rams 5 M either way---whether they keep him or cut him. I think they are actually going to use him this year. I mean if Cigz could figure out how to use him in 2015 as the RB/WR hybrid he is, so can McVay.
On Achilles injuries. This has come up before. Achilles injuries are no longer the death sentence they once were. Advances have been made. So determining Webster is just iffy at this point is no longer the near certainty it was a few years ago. He has a chance. Putting him on IR with the intent of bringing him back during the season is probably a very good idea. It means that the depth at CB is rock solid. Good insurance against in-season injuries at a vital position.
