My prior post didn’t upload correctly ??? McVay took an underperforming team, added some offense and coaching, and had a very good year. The team make over begins year two. BUDGETS are not unlimited. I am more confident in McVay and Co going forward. I think they know what they want, know what they need, seem to be very good at evaluating talent and coaching up others. Since McVay they have also been very creative in filling those needs and wants to upgrade the TEAM. It looks to me that the current philosophy being employed is sound; ‘ The sum of the parts counts most; if one part cost more than it adds, it’s gone. That includes talented players who don’t fit scheme, underperformaning players and players looking for contracts which exceed their value to the TEAM. Over paying limits the money available to increase talent elsewhere and hamstrings them going forward to get better (ie. the TA contract). If you overpay for one of those players then you will probably lose one of the core players who have earned larger contracts like GOFF, DONALD and GOURLEY. If Watkins goes it is because he is seeking the most he can possibly get. McVay knows his current value and how is aviable to fill his role. They will not over pay hiim.
