Watkins scored 8 TDs...many huge difference makers at critical junctures in a game...was fantastic in blocking (something Robinson never ever showed), drew the #1 corner to help execute plays allowing Woods and dropsie Kupp to collect receptions...

Watkins is the real deal. And I'm here to say, we aren't 11-5 without him.
Man, I feel divided on this. On the one hand, your logic seems very sound. On the other hand, I think of the truly great #1 wide receivers in history and can't help but think that they did all the stuff you mentioned
and caught a ton of footballs and made a bunch of touchdowns. Isaac Bruce and Torry Holt are just the Rams examples. But you've got Randy Moss, Jerry Rice, Larry Fitzgerald, even Calvin Johnson as other examples.
I don't think the issue is, "Does Sammy Watkins have a place on this team?" That is a question more for Tavon Austin, if you ask me. I think the issue is, "Does Sammy Watkins deserve elite #1 WR money?" Personally, I'm leaning toward figuring out how to give him one full year here to prove it first. If he can't prove it and he still wants the money, then let him walk after 2018.
And since he's part of the OP, when it comes to Tavon, about midway through the season I thought the "Tavon as decoy" thing was compelling. Now that we've reached the end of the season, however, I'm no longer convinced that's working quite as well or that it's nearly as crucial. I'm ready to part ways with Tavon unless he wants to restructure into a gigantic paycut.
