was it a lowball or what they thought he was worth? 2 different things and 1 year of data is not enough to make the judge if they were wrong in that assessment.
he is the third highest in 2017. im fine with using an average but since tru is not on a multiyear deal the average is not comparable.

for what he signed with the giants and that the rams lose tru next year
1 we will never know and the other has yet to play out.
in addition, are either worth the 2nd and 3rd highest paid in the league? both are good, but THAT good? perhaps they are better off letting them go and simply drafting their replacement. its just not that simple imo.
The Rams undervalued and lowballed him. Plain and simple.
He would have signed for $12.5 mil. with the Rams because reports at the time were that he was looking for something in that range. The Rams didn’t go higher than $10 mil.
Also, JJ is not anywhere close to the 3rd highest paid in the league. You go by the average salary not this year's cash outlay which always fluctuates.
If that’s what they thought he was worth, then max’s incompetent accusations start sounding much truer. That would also mean they undervalued him. Even most of us fans knew he was worth more than $9-$10 mil. It’s several years of data now that show that he’s a top CB.
It was a front office blunder plain and simple.
I wasn’t really comparing him to Tru. The point is, he’s on an affordable, long term salary for a top CB. Tru has been paid much more over the last two years and is not as good.
