So again---how many rookie qbs have you seen with no running game, leaky protection, and mediocre receivers who DID look good according to your criteria?

In contrast to you, in the midst of the chaos, I CAN see the unique talents Goff brings to the game. It's there, in the middle of all the mayhem. It CAN be seen.

I get what you're saying and to a large extent agree, but to suggest that how Goff is playing has nothing to do with how good Goff is, is a tad out there.

Yeah, Goff isn't innocent in all of this. He's the starting QB, rookie or not. The quality of his play is also on him, even with all of those lousy factors surrounding him. It's both/and, not either/or.

Kinda like the Gurley situation, in a way . . . and I was a huge fan of that draft pick. Gurley simply hasn't run well this season, even if we factor in the lousy line play, coaching, etc. etc. He rarely has shown anything close to his burst, power or drive from last year, and that can't all be on the line, etc. etc.

I guess it's a bit of the chicken and egg kinda thing. Since it's all intertwined, interconnected and interstellar -- um, whoops. That's another topic altogether. Goff and Gurley are still a part of the quality of play for the Rams. They count. Their actions count, within the larger context, blah blah blah.

I'm just saying, I don't think Goff has shown he's able to rise above the rotten, no goodnic situation he's in as often as he should -- as the first player chosen. And since he's done it on occasion, we know he can. We know he's capable of it. So why doesn't he do it on a more consistent basis?

Not saying he should be able to do all the time, or even lot. But he should be able to make it happen more than occasionally. Again, if he can do it at all, that means he can increase quality plays. And that's largely on him, in my view.
