To Max;
I get the frustration. I did lament the high price to acquire a QB, and the missed chance to acquire more talent for the holes. And, woeful results for over a decade are infuriating. But the trade has been made and I just have to look forward
To Grits:
as well assessed situation as one could find to read of the current state of affairs. A second ACL to the QB; bust a move for another that didn't work out. was it the hit by the GB LB?
A whirlwind change of cities, fans, living arrangements, work out sites, overseas game, temp facilities, and more. The coach ends up managing a lot more than just the product on the field. Weathering all the rough seas.
I am the same age as Grits, been following the club just as long; from Elmendorf, and Pat Thomas, to TJ, and Trumaine; It's been good and bad.
I have little problem with making the high draft choice sit and learn; fine with it really.
For me:
The offense is most likely trackless. Not a surprise. They'll make big plays, they'll make mistakes, and they won't convert the tough 3rd downs. Again, not a surprise. I don't believe there's a manager out there that could come into this scenario and make the institutional makeovers that change this into a playoff caliber team this year, or for that matter next year.
I do suggest that no coach I can see out there could manage their way through the epic changes, and do a better job of it than this guy. A ton of things that are happening off the field to attend too.
Hope is all I have now. Look forward to the first two games. They are overweighted, but sheer divisional match ups. I am putting aside the QB issues, and letting the guys go out and play football. One of the few guys who comes off with some degree of "elevation" and "carriage" is Boras on hard knocks. I do hope that carries over to his offense.
