Here's the deal. I don't think anybody would expect much record wise if Goff was our starter. I know I wouldn't and was prepared for it.
The point is that our record with CK is not going to be good enough to make the playoffs. Posters here can point to all types of stats and claim that the Rams would have been 3-4 games better with him last year if he started the whole season. CK is nothing more than a backup QB and THAT is why the Rams made the drastic move in the draft. IF they thought that Keenum was the guy to get them 10-11 wins and go to the playoffs do you think they would have given up the farm to get to #1? NOT a chance.
What Goff needs, as do all rookie QBs, is playing time to learn the NFL. THAT is why he should be starting. Play, learn the system, learn the defenses, learn the protections, etc. Then, in 2017 we might have something special.
I'm sure that TB and TEN could have started different QBs and ended the year with a better record. They didn't because the benefits of giving your franchise QB real live NFL playing time to set up future success was more important. But Fisher feels differently, and we're just supposed to "trust him" because he knows what he's doing. Maybe Jeff should do some yoga and reflect on his record and maybe take a page out of someone else's playbook for a change. Jeff is about to become the answer to an NFL trivia question at the end of this year. Which coach has the most losses in NFL history. That's not how I would want to be remembered.
Not getting Goff ready to play is an indictment on this coaching staff. They are just delaying the inevitable. With all that they have invested in Jared, he WILL be the starter at some point. Take your lumps now. Set up your future. Unless there is no future here for JF and his staff.
