Have "WE" ever been the ones to "fleece" some other team?

Did the Rams really get fleeced trading up for 2.39? I don't think so.

With so many QBs, OTs, and WRs taken in RD1 is seems that a lot of high end talent at other positions got pushed into the second round, and that seems to have made those early RD2 picks with more than normal.

Taking a look at a few, using this trade value chart: [www.drafttek.com]

Falcons trade up with the Cardinals in Round 2: Falcons get Nos. 35, 186; Cardinals get Nos. 43, 79

The Falcons got 567 points but gave up 665. The chart says they overpaid by 98 points. (Note: the first pick in RD4 is worth 96 points).

Rams trade up with the Panthers in Round 2: Rams get No. 39; Panthers get Nos. 52, 155, 2025 second-round pick

The method I'm familiar with is a future pick is worth the middle of the next round in this year's draft. So that 2025 RD2 pick is worth the 15th or 16th pick in RD3 this year, or 192.5 points. With that in mind, the Rams gave up 601.9 points and only got back 510 points. The chart says the Rams overpaid by 91.9 points. (Note: the second pick in RD4 is worth 92 points.)

Eagles trade up with the Commanders in Round 2: Eagles get Nos. 40, 78, 152; Commanders get Nos. 50, 53, 161

The Eagles got 730.6 points but gave up 797. The chart says they overpaid by 66.4 points. (Note: 14th pick in RD4 is worth 66 points)

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

It seems to me that the level of talent available at the top of RD2 made those picks move valuable than usual, allowing the original owners of those picks to charge more than the chart says.

It is also possible (likely?) that there were multiple teams looking to move up, allowing the original owners of those picks to instigate a bidding war among interested team, which would drive the price up even further.

Seems like we always give away players for less than their value and when we trade for a pick, we usually give up more than what is considered "fair".

So, I ask, have "WE" ever been the ones to "fleece" some other team??? Not sure I can remember even one time we did! lol

#HelmetHornsMatter

“Well, the color is good, I like the metallic blue,” Youngblood recently said while laughing, via NFL Journal. “The horn is terrible. It looks like a ‘C.’ When I first saw it on the logo I honestly thought it was a Charger logo.

“Now when I see it on the helmet, it just isn’t a ram horn. There is no distinct curl like a mature ram horn. I don’t know how the Rams could get that wrong. That is your symbol and it has been for what? Seventy years or more? Longer than I have been alive? It’s just not us, it’s not the Rams.”---Mr. Ram Jack Youngblood

Maybe the Rams just didn't want to dink around with it anymore

Fleeced? No. Short end of the stick? Yes.

  Good analysis

Fleeced? No. Overpaid? I guess, in theory.

The math may sound good, but if you listen to GMs it simply doesn't work that way

It plays a role --- but even so, as you know it's a guideline

Yes, gave a 2nd and 5th for Faulk

Funny, not there, a little caveat --- Dolphins offered a #1 for Faulk and Colts rejected it
