You talk about "blind spots" as though you or others can see things McVay doesn't. We have no knowledge of what goes on behind the scenes and why certain decisions are made as they are, and there is no way that Coaches just tell the media everything they know or why they did what they did.
Sure, our Kicking has been abysmal. I hate it. You think McVay doesn't know that? The issue is what is the best solution? Our solution is always to fire the current Kicker and just pick up some guy sitting at home assuming he'll be better. Everyone goes crazy because they didn't keep Mason Crosby, but then he goes out and misses the game winning FG as well as an extra point.
There's a reason the top Kickers get paid as they do, and why a bunch of guys are sitting at home.
And there are reasons why McVay calls games as he does. This is sports. You have an opponent, and they don't always co-operate with your plans. These are humans. They have good games and less than good games. This is why computers will never be able to pick winners any better than smart football guys, and even then there is no accounting for the human factor.
I guess I just feel like as fans there is sometimes a thought pattern that we know more than McVay and Snead do.
Here sits the Rams, in the playoffs, with a winning record when by all rights they shouldn't be here. And we gripe? I'll never get it, I guess.
