This is an "easy" to replace position, without using a first round pick. Other than a few backs everybody is pretty much in the same bucket, so it only pays to overpay those very elite guys, almost everybody else can be replaced with a third round pick.

So unless it becomes a trend to use a running back heavily in the passing game (other than as a check-down) they won't be as valuable to a teams success as in the past.
