What does the Players union not always doing the best for their members have to do with anything? The Players chose their leaders. They chose to sign the contract. How does that comment advance any kind of dialogue? The Players signed the deal. The Owners signed the deal. And now each side is stuck with however well it works....for or against. Period. That's how contracts work. Blaming someone for not making a better contract is a moot point. This isn't about a fantasy or a theoretical contract; it's about a real, existing, legal contract.
The RB situation isn't collusion or anything underhanded. It's just that RBs have been devalued and teams aren't willing to pay them like they used to. Don't know what will change that, but the day teams are forced to pay all positions more equally will never come unless the Players themselves decide that the top guys at the most valued positions will give up big bucks for the sake of the less valued guys. My prediction is that will never ever happen any more than all rookies getting paid the same, whether 1st round or 7th round.
