I'm not sure what you're suggesting. Is it that the CBA should be for a shorter term? Is it that if the players feel bad enough about a particular provision of the CBA long after the fact that they ought to be able to re-open the contract provision and re-do it at any time? Not that I'm sorry for the RBs (who still make one heck of a lot of money), but this is adult life and big business with millions and millions of dollars at stake. It's children that think every time something happens that doesn't go their way then everything stops and they have to be paid attention to and have their circumstance fixed.
Their opportunity to change things might be 7 years off. The current crop of RBs won't benefit. So be it. Blame the Union, not the Owners. The Union was supported by the players in voting for the CBA. Now they have to put on their big-boy pants and live with what they negotiated. Is that so hard to swallow?
