Again, another reply that isn't "attacking" the poster but attacking the "opinion" instead. I can respect that Deadpool. Thank you.
I did read it and agree he was not a "one trick pony" in the SB. I also will say I thought something seemed to change towards the end of that SB season on defense.
I remember the early part of the season and our D was letting teams walk up and down the field allowing completion after completion. It was talked about by many here.
It was discussed and debated here whether or not McVay "talked" to Morris about tightening up the coverage or at least mixing it up more. Some said it was just the players getting better. I am not sure what the reason was but it sure did look different.
I think the SB was the BEST game Morris called since he has been here by far. He showed some creativity and on the fly adjustments in that game.
Unfortunately, I have seem more games where the creativity seemed to be lacking than games where he showed signs of being creative. JMO
I think part of the problem is McVay wanting Morris to run the Fangio system when he never ran it before. I can see how that would limit one's creativity.
So, again, thanks for posting that. I agree. Morris was not a one trick pony in the SB. I still think he is the most un-creative DC in the league. Morris has been blessed to have 3 hof'ers on his unit the whole time he's been here and maybe I expect more than a glorified Prevent Defense considering that.
I won't try to convince you to see it my way. It's all good and I do agree with some of what you said above.
Maybe Morris would be even better if he was able to call his own scheme, IDK. I don't think we will find out anytime soon. IMO, this year will be a better judging time for Morris. Let's see what he can do without those HOF'ers and only has scrubs to work with.
