Eric Davis made a impressionable point that got me thinking about Donald. Eric asked the question, when are your sacks? If they come on 1st down and the offense ends up getting the first down anyway, its a useless stat.
So I took a quick look.
2016:Of Donald's 8 sacks 4.5 of them came on either first or second down.
Only 2.5 sacks came in the 4th qtr
2015:Of Donald's 11.0 sacks 6.0 came on either first or second down
Only 2.0 sacks came in the 4th qtr.
2014:Of Donald's 9.0 sacks 6.0 came on either first or second down
4 sacks came in the 4th qtr
Make of that what you will but here is where the rubber meets the road for ME.2016:In wins/ties for the Rams Donald had (1) ONE sack.
That means in the Rams 4 wins Donald had only ONE sack.'
In losses he had 7 sacks.
In the 4th qtr +/- 7 pts Donald had only 2.5 sacks
2015:4TH QTR +/-7 PTS - ZERO SACKS
2014:4TH QTR, +/-7 PTS - ONE SACK
Somebody might have the time to do a more comprehensive presentation, but believe me the story shall remain the same.
For those looking through clear lens will come to the conclusion that Aaron Donald's numbers don't contribute to wins.
He's a stat stuffer, he is NOT a big game player.$100m+? pfffftttt
Best,
Laram
