Did that player excel in the NFL?by PeoriaRa - RamsFootballFans.com
I know Kelly looked good in preseason, but I recently re-watched the SF game week 17 and he showed almost nothing. 15 runs for 30 yards with one catch on 2 targets for 18 yards. He got chances and just did not look good to me. Based on that game, he would be an easy cut for me.by PeoriaRa - RamsFootballFans.com

Super Bowl hangover or not, I feel this team is extremely well set up to sustain excellence this year with another 12 win season and deep playoff run. Here are some of my reasons for optimism. Coaching staff: Sure McVay is a top five head coach. But he also has Wade, who I would call a top 10 D coordinator, and I defy anyone to tell me that Bones is not the top special teams coach in the leby PeoriaRa - RamsFootballFans.com
Shanahan has the intriguing idea to make offense positionless. Guy may be wearing a RB number but lines up as WR, WR lines up in two RB sets, etc. Maybe McVay is working toward something similar.by PeoriaRa - RamsFootballFans.com
except it is Bears and Packers fans around here. Even when Rams were less than 3 hours away in STL no one in this area supported them.by PeoriaRa - RamsFootballFans.com
I'll go first. This is going to be very short, since when I was watching last night I wasn't taking notes. But a few things I noticed. Ebukam was around the action a lot and was a big part of winning this game. He made some good plays. Jo Jo Natson was not a good returner in this game. Kept trying to make too much happen rather than taking what was available. I realize he got betteby PeoriaRa - RamsFootballFans.com
Its rough at this time of year with so little news and no actual games. I get itchy. Reports and news from OTA's has helped a bit, but not enough. So I had a thought - What if, during the offseason, we did a bit of analysis of previous season games that are available online? Anyone up for it? I rewatched the Green Bay game last night, using a condensed (40 minute) game that is availablby PeoriaRa - RamsFootballFans.com
It is a small thing, but I think it speaks to the character of McVay. Watch at the very end of the video. I don't know who all the people in the video are, but assume they are members of McVay's staff. McVay climbs into the van, and immediately bypasses the center seats and clambers into the back seat of the vehicle. He is the head coach, the boss, and he without thought takes the worstby PeoriaRa - RamsFootballFans.com
This is a very short video of McVay getting accosted by the press on his way out to a company vehicle, presumably to go to OTAs. I noticed something really noteworthy in this video unrelated to the questions and answers. Does anyone else see it?by PeoriaRa - RamsFootballFans.com

Not really fair but fun. Bet he gets lots of retweets and that is the goal, right? I don't hate Brady. I do hate Belicheat.by PeoriaRa - RamsFootballFans.com
Maybe because our TE situation is only average. But I guarantee most teams would kill to have 3 WRs as good as ours.by PeoriaRa - RamsFootballFans.com
As I read it, and it was complicated, it basically said that strong coverage correlates with defensive success more than strong pass rush, but that pass rush is more stable year to year (good pass rushers this year will probably be good pass rushers next year) with success in coverage is much less stable. I think we have all seen this - one year they are talking about "Revis Island" anby PeoriaRa - RamsFootballFans.com
If Benoit really spent 3 hours visiting with McVay, I hope that there is more to come. Still, this was one of the most interesting articles of the whole offseason. Good job, Andy Benoit.by PeoriaRa - RamsFootballFans.com

Know nothing about the other guys. But I support keeping the position groups that have been strong strong, and I think everything on offense keys off of the offensive line. So if they think they are getting a ten year starter at center with #31, I support that. In previous years, too, it seemed the OL were the most predictable in the first round (insert obligatory Greg Robinson barb) whereby PeoriaRa - RamsFootballFans.com
I get really torqued off about all the talk about NRC and this one play. Go back and watch the play. Don't watch the slow-mo instant replay - watch only the play itself and only at full speed and, oh, only watch it one time. At full speed that is a bang bang play and it is not clear at all that it is DPI - it is unclear enough that I believe the official was not wrong to hold his flag. Smart coaches are going to immediately be looking at this rule as a way of manufacturing big pass plays on key downs. And we will see more and more of first downs by flag in big situations. It will slow down the game and make it more boring and more about the men in stripes and less about the players in uniforms. I don't like it. ...I am worried about a decline in our offensive line, so would not mind if BPA turned out to be an Olineman. I am also good with trading down if the price is right. This FO has found some fine players in the 3rd round.by PeoriaRa - RamsFootballFans.com
This is a really interesting post and very thought provoking. I would rank proficiency at drafting among the top 5 things that contribute to team success. Don't ask me my top 5, but #1 and #2 in some order would be "quality of starting quarterback" and "quality of coaching staff." Mike Lombardi would say the "team culture" is the #1 determinant of success but I woby PeoriaRa - RamsFootballFans.com
This is a nice little benefit I had never heard of in the CBA. Just curious, which year's salary cap do those bonuses count against?by PeoriaRa - RamsFootballFans.com
I don't think in the salary cap era it is possible to field 46 great players and be dominant on both O and D. We have so many good pieces on O, and keeping sufficient talent to have a top O Line, along with McVays coaching, should keep us at or near the top 5 in scoring each year. On the other hand, it doesn't make much difference how good your RB and WRs are if the OLine cant open holes andby PeoriaRa - RamsFootballFans.com
Whether those younger edge rushers are already on the team, or picked up in an edge-rush strong draft, this gives us a known quantity veteran pass rusher with the possibility of substantial upside from what we saw last year, with a whole year in the program. But I am hearing a lot of analysts say that Saffold is likely to be offered the highest or one of the highest contracts ever for a guard. I doubt we can afford to match that or even come terribly close. I totally agree with honoring loyalty and that it makes vets want to play for a team. Remember how bad our D was in 2000. THen we made some changes, but the one that stood out was bringing in older vet Aenaeas Williams. His attitude and work ethic were second to none and he made an immediate impact. Would love to have Weddle be that guy.by PeoriaRa - RamsFootballFans.com
