I don't think in the salary cap era it is possible to field 46 great players and be dominant on both O and D.
We have so many good pieces on O, and keeping sufficient talent to have a top O Line, along with McVays coaching, should keep us at or near the top 5 in scoring each year. On the other hand, it doesn't make much difference how good your RB and WRs are if the OLine cant open holes and give Goff time.
We just have to make do with an average defense and outscore the competition. Look what happened in the SB when the OLine had a down game.
We have an excellent defensive coach but we have a savant on offense. Let's keep his cupboard stocked and continue to play to our strengths.
