Look at any Brees, Manning, Brady, Rodgers, Stafford highlights and you will immediately see the difference in feet “chopping” and sliding around in the pocket in order to create space and the ability to step toward their target. These guys go from first to second to third option extremely quickly and accurately because of their minds/grasp of defenses, but just as importantly because of their abby since68 - RamsFootballFans.com
With Dotson or anyone that's had one really good year out of four, there is always the risk of him being a free agent "bust". If Dotson would agree, an incentive laden contract (not sure what that entails with a guard) up to 16 mil might work out for both sides? If he plays like he did this year - 16 mil. If he's out a lot or doesn't play well - 10 mil. Some way to reduce Ram's risk.by since68 - RamsFootballFans.com
Sure hope they can figure something out and bring Dotson back at a reasonable price, but this is the NFL and there are always teams who will overpay. The money saved from Noteboom and/or Allen renegotiating or given opportunities elsewhere should help cover Dotson, Jackson being resigned/raised? If Dotson does leave, what do you all think of free agent Kevin Zeitler? A proven veteran you cby since68 - RamsFootballFans.com
Sorry, this got burried in another thread. What do others think/see ? Is "chopping" of feet necessary ? "I am no football coach, but I definitely see that Purdy does not move his feet well or move inside the pocket like the best QBs. I am no football coach, but I definitely see that Purdy does not move his feet well or move inside the pocket like the best QBs. I think it depends on free agency as well, but I can see 5/6 going before 19 - at least that is my hope. There are obviously teams before the Rams that might take a QB. Add to them the teams below 19 that might want to trade up to get a QB afraid that if they wait until the 2nd round, the guy(s) they want might be gone. Perfect scenario would be a team or teams wanting say Penix or McCarby since68 - RamsFootballFans.com
Do the 49ers win the recent Super Bowl with Matthew Stafford at quarterback ? Do they win with Josh Allen? Tua? Cousins? Herbert? Burrow? How about Flacco? It's fun to think about but . . . we will never know.by since68 - RamsFootballFans.com
I agree with OldGoat, "23-of-38 for 255 passing yards and a TD isn't "great" to me.” Remember that was with an extra possession. He was 19/32 for 205 through 4 quarters. Very few teams win with those QB numbers. If every QB in the league was to QB the Niner’s offense (the only fair way to think about it), imo Purdy would be at best middle of the pack of the 32 starters. Yby since68 - RamsFootballFans.com
I think one they missed mentioning . . . . . . get 2 shutdown CBs. Gives rush extra time to get home and in critical times ends up in passes defended/knocked away.by since68 - RamsFootballFans.com
I like Mitchell to be a shut down CB. At 52 I liked a lot of players and McCarthy kept sliding, so I kept trading and adding picks. I'm not sure how it let me make some of these trades, but what do you think?by since68 - RamsFootballFans.com
I totally agree. We all know it's a violent sport and people get hurt from time to time. Whitworth missed a lot in 2020. Should the Rams have said we don't want him, he's hurt too much and not had him as major cog in Super Bowl Championship 2021? How about Saffold, he had bad luck with injuries for a few years then came on strong and helped get Rams to Super Bowl. In this case it may woby since68 - RamsFootballFans.com
OT Tyron Smith “There’s some thought that Smith may go back home to his native Los Angeles. The Rams could certainly use him. Re-signing with Dallas is always a possibility.” If he wants to “come back home” to LA, this is a no brainer to me. Sign him 3yrs/30-35 mil and forget about anyone touching Stafford from the left side. The parallels with Andrew Whitworth: - Older free agenby since68 - RamsFootballFans.com
If the following players are gone (Rams have traded out of 19 to 31), who would you want if the Rams had picks 31 and 40? I know others would be gone from 20 - 30 but . . . you have a choice of everyone not listed - lol 5 QBs: Williams, Maye, Daniels, McCarthy, Nix 3 WR: Harrison Jr, Nabers, Odunze 3 OTs: Alt, Fashanu, Fuaga 3 Edge: Verse, Turner, Latu 1 TE: Bowers 4 CB: DeJean, Mitcheby since68 - RamsFootballFans.com
Assuming the following have been drafted: 5 QBs: Williams, Maye, Daniels, McCarthy, Nix 3 WR: Harrison Jr, Nabers, Odunze 3 OTs: Alt, Fashanu, Fuaga 3 Edge: Verse, Turner, Latu 1 TE: Bowers 4 CB: DeJean, Mitchell, Arnold, Wiggins ...and the Rams draft one of the CBs at 19, is there a player(s) after the 19th and before the 52nd that anyone would trade up to draft?by since68 - RamsFootballFans.com
"Kupp for a #2 pick right now?" - No on Kupp. With his character, he works out like a madman and comes back stronger than ever next year. "And/or Donald for a #1 pick?" - No on Donald. He is still the best DT in the league.by since68 - RamsFootballFans.com
Deadpool/Alyo, Thank you for your info/thoughts. What are the odds Penix goes before #19 and drops another player down to the Rams? I think you could make a case for 8? of the teams drafting before 19 to pick a QB. I don't think any of them would stretch for Rattler or Pratt, but for Penix, I can see it.by since68 - RamsFootballFans.com
Thank you Deadpool, One question I have is what do teams do to protect (the best they can) against using draft choices on players that might "bust"? What indications might lead a team to see "bust potential"? What do teams miss on "can't miss" prospects who end "busting"? Is it as easy as "you can't see what's in a player's heart"?by since68 - RamsFootballFans.com
Florida, I like your list, especially Bowers. He looks like a 10 year all-pro. Can you imagine Bowers in the Ram offense? The problem is it would cost something like our 2024 1st, 2nd and two 3rds plus 2025 1st. This would be to move up to #4 ahead of the Chargers who are thought to want Bowers at #5. That seems too costly to me, especially with "holes" to fill. If he were toby since68 - RamsFootballFans.com
What are the chances the Rams draft this DT? He dominated the ACC Championship game against Louisville and according to the tv broadcast, coaches said he was the best player in practice at the Senior Bowl. Looks like it takes two to block him or he's in the backfield quick. Fast enough to chase down plays. Average draft ranking of 85. Could they take him with one of their 3rds or are theby since68 - RamsFootballFans.com
Thank you. What do you think of Darius Robinson? Did he just play DE in college? Listed at 285 - 295. Could he drop some weight and play edge with the Rams? Latu vs. Darius Robinson at this point? Very interested to see how they perform in the Senior Bowl.by since68 - RamsFootballFans.com
I agree with drafting Jackson Powers-Johnson from Oregon. The guy is looking like a beast. The problem might be that if the Rams don't draft him at #19 or maybe before #25 ? (with a trade down), he probably won't be there when their 2nd round pick comes up. So do they see C as a need that must be addressed with their 1st pick or can it wait until later in the draft by a player who is ratedby since68 - RamsFootballFans.com
The draft is a crapshoot for the most part. Better to have more chances/choices if it makes sense and you can get them. I hope, as usual, some teams make "mistakes" before pick #19 and the Rams have the choice of 5/6 players they like. Then they can trade down, get one of the 5/6 they like and add another pick in the top 100/increase their chances of hitting on a Kobie Turner typeby since68 - RamsFootballFans.com
Purdy and Montana comparisons? Purdy seems like a great young man and I wish he was on the Rams as our backup, but... The last 3 games vs. Balt, GB, and Det (better competition) ... ...Purdy has been rated about a '65' by PFF (basically a 'D')... That rating has been bumped up considerably by his excellent scrambling / running in those games. He has thrown the ball pretty wildly,by since68 - RamsFootballFans.com
I read Aaron Donald sent out a message in which he "crosses his fingers" that Eric Henderson comes back from USC as next Ram's DC. Makes sense in that he is deserving / well-liked and would help other coaches stay with Rams rather than leave to Atlanta ? You would think USC would be "ok" with it as it would be a big step up for Henderson ?by since68 - RamsFootballFans.com
"I'd like to see upgrades at LT and C." I agree and if PFF is right in stating Tyron Smith will sign for $10 million a year, I would sign him quickly. With Smith, LT would be solid for 3/4 years.by since68 - RamsFootballFans.com
Based on several websites that rank prospects and the NFL draft slot value chart, the Rams at 19 could use the pick or trade it for the 35th and 56th pick. Would you rather use the 19th pick on Kool-Aid McKinstry or trade it and draft (Chop Robinson or Quinyon Mitchell) at 35 and (Josh Newton, Edgerrin Cooper or T'Vondre Sweat) at 56 ? The rankings I used came from the NFLDraftBuzz website.by since68 - RamsFootballFans.com
It doesn't happen often (2017 with Andrew Whitworth?) and I am not sure how it would work with Jackson, but the best pass blocking OT in the league is a free agent this year. When healthy, Tyron Smith allows little to no pressure. He is 33 years old (Whit was 36 when the Rams signed him?) and has had some injuries lately, but if the Rams could sign him and Avila is better in his second year, noboby since68 - RamsFootballFans.com
