We all know it's a violent sport and people get hurt from time to time. Whitworth missed a lot in 2020. Should the Rams have said we don't want him, he's hurt too much and not had him as major cog in Super Bowl Championship 2021?
How about Saffold, he had bad luck with injuries for a few years then came on strong and helped get Rams to Super Bowl.
In this case it may work to the benefit of the team that signs Smith because fear of recent injuries lowers his price tag. You get one of the best for less than normal.
Watch the Green Bay vs. Dallas playoff game. Smith sure looked healthy to me and nobody came close to getting by him - he's still top pass protector.
If you have the chance to get a HOF LT still playing at a top level, you go get him.
You have to have players like him to win Super Bowls.
