...by the time the Ravens got to us and demolished the Rams they'd already run for 175+ yards 8 times in 10 games. And finished doing so 14 times on the season. 200+ yards 9 times. 9 times... They ran through everyone like a hot knife through butter...by LMU93 - RamsFootballFans.com
I agree. I like FO's stuff too. You have to be something really special at QB to be top-10 behind a bottom tier OL. He missed throws and reads along the way too. For sure. But I think behind an even middle-of-the-road OL he performs very well.by LMU93 - RamsFootballFans.com
All these lists are pretty subjective (even if also based on their own data). But when I look at their list I basically thought the top 8 is likely the top 8 (in some order) and that #s 9 through 16 could end up in any order, largely depending on their supporting casts: Roethlisberger, Rivers (who I can see being way lower by the way), Prescott, Garoppolo, Wentz, Stafford, Goff, Cousins. I'm not going to worry about a RB fumbling every 66 touches. In 300 touches that would be 4.5 fumbles. That's not much. Also not going to worry about Henderson because of one bad fumble in his 2nd NFL game action. Reynolds' 50.8% career catch rate is a notable stat. It's significantly less than Higbee (70%), Kupp (69%), Woods (66%), Cooks (65%), and Everett (61%) over the past 3 years. To winby LMU93 - RamsFootballFans.com
Yeah, lists like that are always interesting. You get a general sense of the quality of a team across the whole season regardless of the postseason and accounting for strength of division/schedule, close games, etc. For example they have the '79 Rams as only the 16th best team in the league that year. They went on that late-season run to the Super Bowl but...maybe not far off. And the Bucs, who tby LMU93 - RamsFootballFans.com

We can argue the merits of taking a RB at 52 vs. another spot (I leaned toward taking LT Ezra Cleveland at the time). I think whatever it looks like at RB in week 1 will look a lot different come week 10, 12, etc. I do think there's going to be a rotation- like most of the league uses- vs. feeding one guy 25 times per game. No question. But is it going to be 1/3, 1/3, 1/3? No way.. But a workby LMU93 - RamsFootballFans.com
I was at the 1991 Rams-Raiders game at the Coliseum. Much the same. In a way I was relieved the Raiders pulled it out on the last-second FG as I think the Raiders fans would have been much angrier vs. just taunting on the way out. Good game, actually. Rams had clawed back to 3-3 before this game and this was the first loss in a 10-game slide that ended their season 3-13 and Robinson fired.by LMU93 - RamsFootballFans.com
I really would limit Noteboom to both tackle spots. You're right, Anchrum could get tried at center.by LMU93 - RamsFootballFans.com
Yeah, I think you need to see a lot of many of the OL in preseason in part because the starting guard spots are up for grabs but also to see these guys at multiple positions: Evans- RT, RG, LG (LT?) Just using their SRS (Simple Ratings System). That's partly what makes that season so painful- the 2001 team was better than 1999.by LMU93 - RamsFootballFans.com
I agree. I think it's really more about making a pretty talented group (especially in the secondary) more unpredictable and innovative.by LMU93 - RamsFootballFans.com
Granted, the team was a disaster that year but as far as rookies during a season with no offseason program before it the Rams actually had decent rookie contributions in 2011. Quinn had 5 sacks off the bench. Kendricks had 28 catches. Pettis and Salas 27 catches each.by LMU93 - RamsFootballFans.com
Yes, very. I understand those that elevate players like Warner and Faulk who directly delivered their Super Bowl win. I'm personally more a believer in longevity and sustained excellence with the franchise when doing lists like this. So my top five would include Merlin Olsen, Jack Youngblood, Deacon Jones, Jackie Slater and Isaac Bruce. Aaron Donald is closing fast on the outside...in anotherby LMU93 - RamsFootballFans.com
Their explanation is long-winded and gives me a headache but anyway... just sharing. They have Goff 15th with a 13% chance to be top 5, 31% to be top 10 and 53% to be top 16. Pro Football Focusby LMU93 - RamsFootballFans.com
It's an essential leadership trait. Help others see more in themselves than they would otherwise. He mixes high standards and accountability with good communication (i.e. listen as much or more than you talk), trust, collaboration and appreciation. I remember when he arrived in 2017 hoping he could take the offense from 14 PPG to 18-19. From 4 wins to 7-8. Felt that would be progress. Othersby LMU93 - RamsFootballFans.com
Floyd has averaged 4.4 sacks per 16 games over the past 3 years. Ebukam 3.8 per 16 games the past two years. Are one or both of those guys suddenly going to double their pass rush production? I'd love to see it but expecting them to combine for anything more than maybe 11-12 sacks is pretty unlikely.by LMU93 - RamsFootballFans.com
I think those stints vs. other teams are hugely valuable, more so than preseason games. You get extended reps for your starters and backups in position drills, controlled scrimmage environments, situational drills, etc. I've felt for a while that preseason should be two games plus two controlled scrimmages vs. other teams. I'd pay to go to those as much or more than standard preseason games. Woulby LMU93 - RamsFootballFans.com

I agree. That should help. As would better run defense (creating more passing situations). But I think the onus is definitely on those things and disguising pressure/blitzes since that "go get the QB" guy just seemingly isn't there right now.by LMU93 - RamsFootballFans.com
I'm far less concerned about the WR issue because I think it's a matter of them using the WRs they have to their strengths in an evolving offense vs. trying to find a plug-and-play replacement for what Cooks did. To me the offensive question mark is the OL. Now I have more confidence than I had this time last year and think 1 through 9 they'll have better depth. From Jan. 2nd. Not sure if this was ever posted. Interesting. Basic premise being all "close games" are not equal and for teams that played a lot of actual close games in 2019 (they call them 'coin flip games'), things swung in clear favor and against some teams. I think there are encouraging signs. But there are more question marks than clear arrows pointing up at this point in my opinion. I do think hiring O'Connell is an underrated move that is going to benefit Goff quite a bit. Akers and Henderson- optimistic but question marks.
