.. But that also doesn't mean he starts week 1. And that's OK. He's had a total of 8 OTA practices and received some 1st team reps in the final 2-3 I believe. "Back in the day" teams would have been in training camp about 7-10 days by now. Camp is so short now- with no two-a-days- that even if he got all the 1st team reps from day one it may simply not be enough. I'm not saying he wby LMU93 - RamsFootballFans.com
I get the nostalgia about the Coliseum and I think it's cool that they're there for three years. But it's really not a great NFL stadium with the track, etc. making sight lines further away. And I have to say, having been to Dallas a few years ago it's pretty hard to describe just how impressive that place is.. It's something to see. And if the Rams can surpass that, well, wow...by LMU93 - RamsFootballFans.com
Really good stuff... As they look to 2017 it's really all about which of these guys they want to and feel they can retain long term. They have more time with Ogletree as he's signed through 2017 and they could franchise him in 2018 if they wanted. My hunch is McDonald will want to stay, but then I thought McLeod would too.. The other thing for 2016 is this is a huge year for Greg Robinsonby LMU93 - RamsFootballFans.com
Amen... This team has won games against upper tier teams every year but then also laid eggs vs a couple lesser teams. And that leads to 7-9.. I don't care if they win 42-30 or 9-3 but I want them being more consistent, winning the winnable games and also not losing their heads in a loss. To be honest if you look at their schedule I would call pretty much every game other than Carolina and Newby LMU93 - RamsFootballFans.com
I agree. it can go a few ways and most favor the Rams longer term. He can play really, really well and earn a bigger deal. They could decide to give it and they keep a premier CB. Or they don't and they get a 3rd round comp. pick in 2018. Like you said at the same time they further evaluate what they have in Gaines, Sensabaugh, Joyner, Roberson, etc. The only way they really lose leverageby LMU93 - RamsFootballFans.com
I like Ogletree and Barron a lot. Ayers is fine as a 3rd LB. My concern is whether they have anyone behind them that is anything more than a good special teams player. They might. They might not. That's something to watch in preseason.by LMU93 - RamsFootballFans.com
I look at Goff and wonder if he can perform (statistically) reasonably on par with Winston and Mariota a year ago. Those two together averaged a QB rating of 87.2 and threw 41 TDs and 25 INTs in 28 starts. To me if Goff could produce a QB rating in the low/mid-80s with 20-22 TDs as a rookie it would be a big boost. You could argue that with Gurley and Austin that Goff may have more to work wiby LMU93 - RamsFootballFans.com
I think the offense's epic awful 3rd down conversion rate was somewhat of a factor. Had to be. But I do agree losing Quinn and Ogletree was as big, maybe more. Ogletree was killing it those first four games and the Rams' pass rush was just not nearly as effective the 2nd half of the year without Quinn.by LMU93 - RamsFootballFans.com
...but personally if he had a really good 2016 I'd have no problem franchising him again for 2017 if needed. That would be for $16.7M. I'd rather overpay for one year than hand out a massive 5-6 year deal. And he'd earn $30.6M over those two years so he might not be against the idea himself.. Just my opinion.by LMU93 - RamsFootballFans.com
Personally I think they're dead on about the WRs but have our secondary and OL a bit low. The thing with PFF is I think they do a good job in season of grading week to week. But they don't project based on anything else. I think the Rams' OL, for example, has definite promise based on what the rookies should last year and considering the offseason work Robinson did. A top 10 unit? No. But that loby LMU93 - RamsFootballFans.com
You would think so. I think if they can keep 2/3 of the players they want they're in good shape. Teams just never can keep everyone. In Johnson's case, if he has a tremendous year and earns a mega contract in 2017 that they don't want to match then they get the 97th pick in the 2018 Draft.. Once these players get a year in LA under their belts I think many will be more likely to want to stay.by LMU93 - RamsFootballFans.com
I think to some extent it goes beyond just Johnson. They are also staring at extensions for Brockers, Ogletree, McDonald and Austin. Which are most 'signable'? Replacable? Etc. They're not keeping all five of these guys in 2017. Extending 3 or possibly 4 would be awesome.by LMU93 - RamsFootballFans.com
I think on paper they have the talent to win. By "win" I mean 9-10 games. And I say that regardless of who's at QB week 1. But that's also based on them being a pretty healthy team. Key players need to stay healthy- namely Gurley, Donald, Quinn, Ogletree, Johnson, Gaines, and McDonald. The OL as a starting unit needs to make something like 65+ starts.by LMU93 - RamsFootballFans.com
Quarterback Situations 27. Los Angeles Rams Starter: Jared Goff Backup: Case Keenum Key stat: 58.8 percent of Goff’s yards gained last season came in the air rather than after the catch, a figure that would have ranked in the top 10 in the NFL. Jared Goff is the QB of the future for L.A. The only question is how long Rams fans have to wait to see it. He was the highest-graded QB inby LMU93 - RamsFootballFans.com
True, there were injuries. And they were totally decimated at CB. But beyond a few severe injuries and retirements SO MANY of the players the Rams did not retain for 2012 never played in the NFL again. That says a lot.by LMU93 - RamsFootballFans.com
Not all will of course. But I think these 7 all have 2016 Pro Bowl potential: Gurley Donald Quinn Ogletree McDonald Johnson Hekkerby LMU93 - RamsFootballFans.com
