After attending the 1986 opener between the Rams and Cardinals in St. Louis, I was standing outside the stadium as the Rams came out. I got autographs from Eric Dickerson, Dennis Harrah, and others. When Jeter walked by, I said very enthusiastically, "Nice game, Jeter!" I could tell that he really appreciated that one of the fans recognized that he had played well and that he wasn't expby L.A.Rams - RamsFootballFans.com

It's very simple. I'm not happy with the performance of Johnson, which is nowhere close to what you would expect for a $16.7 million dollar CB.by L.A.Rams - RamsFootballFans.com
I agree that 1967 was better than 1969, but my point is that 2017 is the most magical L.A. Rams season since 1969. At this point, I couldn't say that it's their most magical season since 1967 because it has not surpassed 1969 in my mind.by L.A.Rams - RamsFootballFans.com
1. No matter how the rest of this season plays out, it will go down in my mind as, at the very least, the greatest and most hopeful L.A. Rams season since 1969. The 1973 season was exciting when Chuck Knox arrived on the scene and got the Rams back into the playoffs. The 1983 season was also special with the coming of Eric Dickerson and John Robinson. Then in 1986 Jim Everett came along to (briefby L.A.Rams - RamsFootballFans.com
The saying about bend-but-not-break defense goes back at least as far as the 1960s, when that was how the Cleveland Browns defense was described. Such a description may be appropriate for an entire defense but, as you say, it isn't applicable to a single player in the defense. A defense that bends a little can still be effective if it frequently forces drives to stall. That is why 3rd down percenby L.A.Rams - RamsFootballFans.com
With the Rams back in the Coliseum, the white horns back on their helmets, a great player on the defensive line, an innovative coach, and lots of likable, exciting, rising stars, I am getting the same feeling about this team that I had about 50 years ago. One difference that I'm hoping for is that, unlike the Rams of that era, this team will win a championship. I love the bright sunny days in theby L.A.Rams - RamsFootballFans.com
...is doing whatever it takes to prevent the opposing offense from scoring and giving your own offense as many opportunities as possible to score more points than the opponent. Regardless of what PFF has to say, Trumaine Johnson has been marginally effective in contributing to getting the opposing offense off the field, especially for the highest paid CB in the NFL at $16.7 million.by L.A.Rams - RamsFootballFans.com
...but many scores happen when the defense can't get off the field. If you keep allowing receivers to get open on third down, the points that the other team ends up scoring count just as much as if you have a tendency to get burned for the occasional long ball.by L.A.Rams - RamsFootballFans.com

...in terms of the quality of play to salary ratio. I hope the Rams primary focus in the draft and/or free agency in 2018 will be to get help and depth at CB and to stop wasting so much cap space on that position. There have been several memorable games against the Cardinals. The best has to be the 1975 playoff in which Jack Youngblood returned an INT for a TD. In 1979, the Rams won 21-0 for one of three shutouts in that Super Bowl season. In 1984, Eric Dickerson ran 208 yards. In 1987, Charles White ran for 213 yards. I attended the 1986 game, which was the opener that season. It was an exciting game thatby L.A.Rams - RamsFootballFans.com
I went through the play-by-plays posted at ESPN.com to find the Rams longest drives (in terms of time) this season. They are posted below. If one were to check some of the Rams previous seasons over the last decade, when they specialized in the three-and-out, I'm sure the disparity would be dramatic and perhaps the best indicator of how this team has been transformed by Sean McVay. 7:22 Redskiby L.A.Rams - RamsFootballFans.com

They came within a few yards of sending SB 34 into OT. Steve McNair and Eddie George were in the primes. The Freak was a rookie. They were a very physical team with lots of talent on defense. It seemed that they would be back, but they never made it to another Super Bowl. Look at the Colts of a few years ago with an upcoming Andrew Luck. I always set the DVR for lots of extra time for Rams games. That wasn't what happened in this case. They changed the channel after the schedule was posted. I tried the series record feature for the World Series, but each game was recorded for only three hours. The best game of the Series stopped recording in the fifth inning! This fall, I missed some games while participating in a sea trip. Before the trip, I set my DVR to record the Rams games, but NFL Sunday Ticket changed the channel of the Cardinals game after the original schedule was posted. I have computed power rankings using a basic approach in statistics (least squares) for nearly every season back to 1945. I am working on the only missing seasons (2015 and 2016), which will be done soon. Based on the numbers for this season, the Rams appear to be a legit Super Bowl contender. It wouldn't be surprising if they run the table and finish 13-3. Here is a link to the rankings:by L.A.Rams - RamsFootballFans.com
The Rams are good enough to run the table and finish at 13-3. That would probably be good enough for the #2 seed and possibly #1. There is no reason why the Rams can't beat the Eagles at home in two weeks just like they beat the Saints. If they can win that game, why should they lose any of their remaining games? I noticed a few things in the Saints game that need to be corrected. Gotta stop aby L.A.Rams - RamsFootballFans.com
