Journalists need to make a living. Outrageous opinions, hype, exaggeration, butt-kissing, sycophant praise, bile-filled denounciations, all all clickbait designed to get readers and generate revenue. Plus, they want to appear to be ahead of the curve. How many times have your heard, "last year I was saying he was declining," or "I predicted this kid would be great." I remember draft and I was undecided as to who would be the better QB. I slightly liked Goff over Wentz because Wentz played in such a weak conf. But for me it was mostly a coin toss. However, during the year that Wentz got injured playing the Rams, Wentz was asked about changing his running style and Wentz said that was who he was and he was not going to change. That stupid and ignorant apby Coy Bacon - RamsFootballFans.com
The Eagles' OLine has definitely been unstable. Read the article below. Their OLine sounds similar to the Ram's OLine of last year. Today they definitely performed better than expected but after last week it isn't unreasonable to expect Wentz to be a little apprehensive and have his performance affected. Elsewhere Reggae said "Are you kidding? Wentz has never been good. Excepting hby Coy Bacon - RamsFootballFans.com
Maybe you're just being hyperbolic, but Wentz is not a disaster, and Goff is not Jim Kelly, Dan Marino, or Kurt Warner. At least not yet. Both guys have the ability to improve. Wentz has been playing behind an unstable OLine, cut him some slack.by Coy Bacon - RamsFootballFans.com
NE all the way!by Coy Bacon - RamsFootballFans.com
Goff was working hard during the off-season to improve his skills. Previously, everyone saw, there was room for improvement, and accordingly Goff focused and was given help. A simple glance at his stats from last season show that Goff is a very good QB who is trying to get better. He played behind the 2nd worse OL but was ranked near the middle of the pack. He's not a bust, he's not mediocrby Coy Bacon - RamsFootballFans.com
I've read several articles by the Philly fans about their loss and they're blaming Wentz bigtime. I guess he stunk up the joint and took sacks when he should have thrown it away. They've also been hit by the injury bug. Based upon what I've seen the Rams should be able to beat them. The Eagles should be easier than the Cowboys.by Coy Bacon - RamsFootballFans.com
43, I feel likewise. The Rams were better than I expected and the Cowboys a little worse. As another poster noted Kiser played hard but missed some important tackles. Apart from Brown the other RBs were average at best. Sloman did himself no favors by missing his first kick and he'll be doubted for a long time to come.by Coy Bacon - RamsFootballFans.com
Hi Speed, Why do you think the Cowboys look better on paper? I'm not disagreeing with you, just wondering what they've done or who they now have that makes them look better than the Rams? Same QB, same RB, what other strengths do they have? I don't follow them so why are they the favorites?by Coy Bacon - RamsFootballFans.com
43, The last time I remember you made a prediction like that I thought to myself, "holy moly, 43's got a huge pair of rosy colored glasses!" and I fully, completely, not only merely, but really most sincerely, expected a dismal showing. Boy was I wrong! Now I say to myself, "Maybe 43's crystal ball is working again and he could be right." A Ram's SB victory would sureby Coy Bacon - RamsFootballFans.com
I don't think the Rams will be SB contenders because of: 1) Too many coaching turnovers 2) Weak LB corps 3) Unproven RBs 4) Goff's weakness in dealing with pressure. This is well known and I expect teams to hammer this weakness. 5) OL not as stout as it needs to be 6) McVay's style is now known 7) Tough division I'm assuming that the definition of "SB contender" is makiby Coy Bacon - RamsFootballFans.com

I haven't lost faith in McVay. I don't view him as great as Belichek but he's proven to be much better than Fisher. He's earned the benefit of the doubt. It's still early in his career so it is too soon to anoint him as genius, average, or failure.by Coy Bacon - RamsFootballFans.com
Billy Truax was great. I was a young teen then and I never liked the trade to Dallas.by Coy Bacon - RamsFootballFans.com
At this point I wouldn't say that Goff is better than Wentz but they are close. Wentz is a good QB. I also think Wentz is tougher than Goff. But Wentz is a dead man walking. Looking back, I am so glad we took Goff over Wentz. I think Goff has a much higher upside than Wentz.by Coy Bacon - RamsFootballFans.com
That's about how I see him also Ramsdude. He's still young and growing and learning. All things considered he did better than an average QB would have done given the same circumstances. I have a higher expectation on McVay and the coaching staff to set things, such as stabilize the OLine, bring a more consistent running game, and design plays that play to Goff's strengths and minimize exposureby Coy Bacon - RamsFootballFans.com
Well, would I be getting a paycheck if I refused to play? That would influence my decision. Where am I in the stage of my career? Near the end, just a 2nd year player? That would also influence my decision. How bad do I need the money? That would influence my decision. If "no" to the first question and, "staring out" to the 2nd question and "yes" to the 2ndby Coy Bacon - RamsFootballFans.com
Zn, I hope I have not made this personal, or that I've offended you in any way. If I have made a personal offensive comment please point it out to me. I think you know that I respect your intelligence and insight. In this case I disagree. I believe I've pointed out your misunderstanding of my original comment, I've always agreed with your general comment about the effects of weak OLine plaby Coy Bacon - RamsFootballFans.com
Zn, You're failing to distinguish between what type of improvements Goff can make. Remember, the lead in to this thread was 43's desire to see from the Rams and he listed improvements in many areas. He didn't mention Goff, so I did. Here are some examples of improvements Goff can make: 1) The stats you provided had Goff ranked near the middle of the pack in performance under pressure.by Coy Bacon - RamsFootballFans.com
Quotezn On #1, you say it, but you don't factor it in. Saying it but then not actually factoring it in doesn't count in my book, On #2, not only is he capable of improvement, we've already seen it since he came into the league. So no I never said he's incapable of improvement. In fact that would be a silly thing to say. That's just how you keep misconstruing what I AM saying. But you shouby Coy Bacon - RamsFootballFans.com
Zn, I see two things: #1) You cannot understand that I've consistently agreed with you on the importance of the OLine. The stats show that generally, a bad OL = poorer QB performance. #2) You believe that Goff is incapable of any improvement, at least that is what your argument says to me. Here is where I disagree. I've quoted examples from stats, and the senior Ram's staff, i.e. Mcby Coy Bacon - RamsFootballFans.com
The stats that you posted showed Goff in the middle of the pack under pressure. That simple metric shows there is opportunity for improvement for Goff. Another site ranks Goff "below average." Jared Goff (Los Angeles Rams) - Goff averaged 5.31 yards per attempt against pressure, which just edged out Tom Brady. Goff's accuracy under duress left a lot to be desired. Zn, I don't think I've mischaracterised your argument. I'm arguing that Goff needs to improve. You've consistently highlighted the OLine weakness as a reason / excuse for his poor performance. I think you've had a knee-jerk reaction to my mild criticism of Goff, assumed that I'm a Goff hater, and you've defended him by highlighting the OLine weakness. Your argument here parallels the same teby Coy Bacon - RamsFootballFans.com
Zn, I disagree with you here. You're using the weakness of our OLine as an excuse for all of Goff's mistakes. Granted our OLine was weak last season but Fitz at Miami had a worse line and performed better. Kyler Murray's, (an undersized rookie), O Line was rated a little better than ours but he was sacked 48 times. On the other hand, Goff was sacked only 22 times, the league low I read, yet Mby Coy Bacon - RamsFootballFans.com
Yeah, as you highlight, Goff struggled when things weren't ideal. Being 16 in the league isn't great but isn't mediocre. All teams have some type of adversity. Better QBs learn how to handle it. This is where I want to see improvement. Russell Wilson had some weaker teams and he carried them. Even Kyler Murray is ranked ahead of Goff and Arizona wasn't a powerhouse.
