Monty Python and the Holy Grailby RFL - RamsFootballFans.com
Assuming AD comes back, I don't worry so much about pass rush. I think we'll be fine there. I worry about a lack of solid consistency in 2 areas. 1. Stopping the run. 2. CB soundness in taking away quick reads and tackling. If we had a truly SOUND, SOLID 10 to 12th ranked defense, I would be happier than if we again have a shaky defense that makes great plays.by RFL - RamsFootballFans.com
43, we all deeply appreciate your work. But I would second the request. Linking into Twitter without an account is slow and awkward. More broadly, all posts that rely on links are slow and awkward. I would suggest the following: A post linking to a separate source should always include at least a summary of what the source offers. This does not have to be extensive. Maybe a few sentenceby RFL - RamsFootballFans.com
I am dubious that we have enough at CB, Edge, and ILB to be a defense that can make an impact. And we don't even know if AD is willing to play with reduced support. There's a long way to go this off season. But we have not, yet, put anything on paper that I would call a championship level defense. Maybe our FO can spin gold out of straw in the late draft and 2nd or 3rd wave FA. But theyby RFL - RamsFootballFans.com
If AD re-signs, I will celebrate. If he resigns, we have a problem.by RFL - RamsFootballFans.com
Love to have him, but I can't see it. Maybe after 10 other deals are done ... But that will be too late.by RFL - RamsFootballFans.com
A dropped TD and a tipped ball int. ... Could have cost us either playoff game.by RFL - RamsFootballFans.com
Maybe that was it and I misheard. I found it disturbing to say the least. With a healthy Kupp, Woods and Jefferson, I am good, though we need depth behind the top 3. Without Woods, ...by RFL - RamsFootballFans.com
He specifically discussed both guys. Hope he is wrong as people suggest. But it is weird if a guy professionally linked with the team would make a mistake like this. I will feel a lot better when Trees is confirmed as available.by RFL - RamsFootballFans.com
Does their pre- and post-game shows. He said it as if it were known. I dunno. I sure would like to believe Bobby T will be there. I still think they'll bring in some vet WR talent. Not enough depth there.by RFL - RamsFootballFans.com
For our team-building model to work. I have hopes for this guy. But in any event we MUST HAVE successes at this level. BTW, I played against his alma mater in the mid-70s. We played in an NAIA conference well below the D2 level Concordia St. Paul plays at now. Still, I did play them 3 times. (I got hurt my 1st year.)by RFL - RamsFootballFans.com
He gets far less credit than he deserves. That guy is a great partner for AD. I really like having him. Hopefully he continues not to get credit so we can afford to keep him.by RFL - RamsFootballFans.com
I was listening to the Locked on Rams guy the other day. He seems to be connected to the team and he said something I had not realized. Our WR group is facing a real challenge. We all know that OBJ won't be available until well into the season. And of course he is an FA. I am not sure how that will work out. Can we pay him for half a season with no assurance of his level of recovery? I dunno.by RFL - RamsFootballFans.com
We have questions at CB, LB, and OL. I think that, of those, OL is the key to being the team McVay wants us to be. I hope for maintaining our pass blocking. I dream of IMPROVEMENT in our run blocking.by RFL - RamsFootballFans.com
I appreciate your good will. I don't know if I am negative. I do insist on seeing the unanswered questions we face. You know, a lot of this is about how individuals deal with the emotions of being fans. Some folks embrace optimism as a way of dealing with uncertainty. Others embrace negativity. I try to see both. But I do not want to bet my passions on a perspective that ignores the doby RFL - RamsFootballFans.com
Our "current" unit pass blocks well. But is patchy blocking the run. I would like to see an upgrade in the interior. I also hold that re'stocking an entire OL is hard to do. Doing it in successive years is harder. We will see.by RFL - RamsFootballFans.com
No matter how much I try to clarify it. I don't recognize it in people's responses to me. Ah, well. So be it.by RFL - RamsFootballFans.com
Coy, let me just respond to you a bit, simultaneously responding to many other posters. I will say this again. I am not complaining! I deeply value all that our FO has done. As you say, no FO is perfect. By addressing its imperfections, I am not casting shade on their achievements. I love the 2nd ring and will always treasure this year. Now I ask you to take seriously what I just said. Do nby RFL - RamsFootballFans.com
He does a lot of things well. But he is frequently driven deep into the backfield. And he can't really rroot out a strong DT. He's OK. But i'd really like to have better. And I think he's replacable.by RFL - RamsFootballFans.com
We have too often gone for gimmick players and either neglected or gone for the wrong OL. I don't think we have a good reel for drafting OL. How do you pass on Creed Humphrey for a gimmick? Really. How does a good FO do that? I mean, they felt Allen was coming on. But he is a limited guy at his best. And he was on an expiring contract. How do you pass on a stud OC whom you will be able toby RFL - RamsFootballFans.com
But limited. Kupp is a once in 20 years find. Gaines is above average, Fuller and Jones may be. The rest? Not the basis of a great team. Is Troy Reeder really a testament to a way to the Super Bowl? Again, if you think I am complaining, you misread me. I love what they have done. 8 love that they have pioneered creative ways to spend picks. But we also need to get some higher picks.by RFL - RamsFootballFans.com
QuoteNewMexicoRam All of the playoff teams are in the "red" regarding draft capital. Every single team. And the tendency is that the deeper in the red a team is, the deeper in the playoffs they went. George Allen would be ecstatic. I think what we have proven is that drafting is not generally enough. To ring the bell, one needs to be willing to spend some draft capital on vets.by RFL - RamsFootballFans.com
I agree they have a plan. And expect it to be solid. But they have not been using draft assets as they should. How much better would the OL plan be with Creed Humphrey? How long can we keep getting quality play from low level guys?by RFL - RamsFootballFans.com
I understand what you are saying. But 5 years can be looked at in a couple of ways. There is a track record of success. That's good. But there is also a 5 year pattern of spending future assets. I think there is a law of diminishing returns for such a strategy. We have fewer assets than we did. And a gap to fill before we start having draft assets again. And the pressure of finding diamoby RFL - RamsFootballFans.com
And that is only 1 unit. I am sure they have a plan. And it will probably be at least solid. But getting to the top of the mountain requires a whole lot of transcendent talent. And it costs you some of your base. The Locked on Rams guy yesterday was wondering if Higbee would be a cap casualty. He made sense. It's damn hard to remain at the top of the heap. Just a word about our team maintenance situation. Please do not see any of this as a complaint. I LOVE what we've done. And I know that the "all in" meme is overblown. But ... not completely. 1st day draft picks do have value. We cannot wish that away. It is hard to find true excellence in later rounds. Kupp? Sure. But that is beyond rare. True stars require 1st day picks or beby RFL - RamsFootballFans.com
Just a word about McVay's likelihood of succeeding in TV. He has a lot of personality and energy. His acuity is obvious. But he is not particularly adept verbally. Lots and lots of cliches strung together. That approach doesn't last. And his voice ... Sorry. His voice box seems to have been stuffed with sand. Its grating tone would not wear well on TV. I just don't think he would be aby RFL - RamsFootballFans.com
You can't do what he does without flirting with disaster. People trash QBs for making risky throws. Then they ooh and ah about ... risky throws. Right now, everyone is lauding "The Throw." It missed being a pick by inches. Wanna say what if about misses? Say it about makes, too. OK. I know you were specific about hanging balls up. But we want vertical strikes.
