But getting to the top of the mountain requires a whole lot of transcendent talent. And it costs you some of your base. The Locked on Rams guy yesterday was wondering if Higbee would be a cap casualty. He made sense.

It's damn hard to remain at the top of the heap. Only a few franchises have done it. I dunno if we can.

The one thing in our favor: the appeal of LA. I think we will have a real edge when it comes to signing FAs. But the cap limits a team's capacity for doing that.

To become a BALT or PITT or NE and remain a perennial contender, we have to resume a long term drafting strategy and do it really well. Better than we have done.
