McVay has tried to become more multiple the last couple years and is now succeeding. He can now pivot to empty, shotgun, zone, power, bunch, spread, 22, 12, and whatever else his beautiful mind wants to create because the OLine has repped every combination for awhile now. That flexibility means the team can go each week with completely different styles. Furthermore, Stafford is just starting to gby Leoram - RamsFootballFans.com
While I don't normally put much stock in such ratings, this looks right to me. Here's to seeing the D and ST move up. We will need it, though the ST was pretty clean v the Bucsby Leoram - RamsFootballFans.com
Ah....yes. The Bucs will get stats on the Rams. This game reminds me of the Chiefs/Rams game in 18. The part NOBODY seems to get is that even with Raheem...while the opponent may drive and get points...when the Rams scheme up a few blitzes or alters coverage, they frequently get turnovers that change the game (see Fullers two picks last year). And yes, the other side of the ball looks similar.by Leoram - RamsFootballFans.com
I realize he's being honest and doing his job. I really don't blame anyone for picking either club because they are that close. Still, it doesn't feel good. I don't believe he really considers himself a Rams fan. Thanks Martz...by Leoram - RamsFootballFans.com

Let's first consider the overall plan and dynamic of the first two games. The Bears are a running team with a mediocre passing attack. The Colts aren't much better at the skill positions with TY Hilton out. Those offenses scored 14 and 17 respectively. Staley's defense ended with just over a 17pt average. The Colts OLine is formidable and yet pressure was still generated in spots. Given the succeby Leoram - RamsFootballFans.com
Belichick believes all is fair in war, so he's willing to cheat. Sean doesn't subscribe and I'm grateful. I consider him a great coach because of the culture he has produced and the standards he has set. Let's not forget there are other great coaches and the players are the ones who execute plans. Who identified Staley as a great defensive coordinator before last year? Find me a coach over theby Leoram - RamsFootballFans.com
I was at the opening of the Edward Jones Dome. My brother in law was a state rep and got me a suite. The other guests clapped for Georgia Frontiere and cheered about no smoking allowed. The sipped Chardonnay. They didn't know who Isaac Bruce was as he caught a TD blowing by a singled up corner on the right sideline. It takes all types.by Leoram - RamsFootballFans.com
The Colts are not a crappy offense. They have one of the top OL's in the league...better than the Bucs IMO. But they were without TY Hilton so that does make a difference. Morris did lay back in zone but also dialed up pressures from this me to time and they were generally effective even if they didn't always get home. The defense allowed 14 and 17 points. Combined, that's less than last year's aby Leoram - RamsFootballFans.com
Quotedodgerram Quotestlramz I get why the Rams kept him given that he reduced his salary and the fact that punters can play seemingly for decades. For years this guy was our MVP but it seems - with a very limited inventory this year so far - he is picking up where he left off and that isn't very good. The 33 yard punt was a killer. Replacement FA's are readily available all season for all three players who see very little contact and reps in a game. There are more important positions to stash on the PS for future development and potential injury replacement. That's how we got Matt Gay.by Leoram - RamsFootballFans.com
Chicago may be a familiar foe for Stafford but you can bet they will play us differently than they did against us last year and against the Lions. Their line regularly gets penetration against us and that will make Matthew's job much more difficult. I'm hopeful that we will establish a running game but I'm not counting on it. Plus their upgrade at QB (Dalton is underrated) can make them competitiby Leoram - RamsFootballFans.com
I don't understand how they project the 9ers to have more wins, fewer losses, and better SB odds but rank them behind the Rams but it really doesn't matter.by Leoram - RamsFootballFans.com
I will begin with a disclaimer, I agree with McVay's philosophy and believe it's both wise and in the NFL, long overdue. NOTHING derails a season like injuries to key players on a team. With that said, Sean McVay was the first coach to hold his starters out an entire preseason and with his success, more teams have followed suit. While the NFLPA has lobbied for a reduced offseason and in-seasoby Leoram - RamsFootballFans.com
If they drop to 12 in yards allowed and 8 in points scored against but lead the league in turnovers created, I would be happy with that and a 14-3 record. If that's what Morris means, I'm all for it.by Leoram - RamsFootballFans.com
I don't understand this article at all. A young tackle is failing miserably and because of his draft status, the Rams should consider him? Let's see if Greg Robinson is still available.by Leoram - RamsFootballFans.com
I wanted the Rams to draft Wentz. I was wrong. We already lived the Sam Bradford experience so in hindsight, Goff was the better pick. The same could happen to Stafford this year and the Colts fate could be ours. It happened to the Cowboys last year with a QB who hadn't missed a game in his career. It's happened to the Dodgers all season long. It just happened to the Lakers. Injuries can deraiby Leoram - RamsFootballFans.com
Please don't be lazy and use "Coach _______ is pleased with __________'s development a dozen times every preseason and training camp. Every OC talks to his QB up to the 15 second mark. That's such a tired, overblown mantra critics used against Goff and is mind numbingly ridiculous. Reid talks to Mahomes up to that time and nobody makes a big deal out of it. Now, there have been QB's with such a mastery of an offense that they call plays themselves (Manning, Brady, Rodgers), but even they get input between plays. The big diffby Leoram - RamsFootballFans.com
I've lived through too many offseasons with this team believing the hype until they start playing and suddenly I'm saying to myself, WTF! Last year was particularly brutal as I expected Sean to expand the offense and Goff to take a step forward in his understanding and ownership of its success.. I grew up a Rams fan in Long Beach, CA. We moved to Joplin MO in 1974. I remained a Rams fan. When the Dome opened in St Louis, I was there with tears in my eyes. Moving back to LA didn't lessen my love for the team one bit. So suffice it to say, I'm inherently unbiased about the feud because I genuinely love both sides. With that perspective, here are my relevant observations: 1. It sucksby Leoram - RamsFootballFans.com
Looking beyond the completions, what strikes me is his command and manipulation of the pocket, the compact throwing motion after quick resets, and his touch/accuracy that assumes the receivers' moves at the top of the stem as he throws the receiver open. These qualities have nothing to do with score or down and distance. I will be watching intently for the subtle variations in scheme and useby Leoram - RamsFootballFans.com
Please show me an analyst who can do a deep dive on QB performance based on tape study that says Stafford isn't a top tier QB and I'd be happy to listen. I believe Shanny is one of the best offensive minds in football and his "two weeks of study" wasn't done in Cabo. He was genuine in his response. I've been critical about the Ram's lack of investing in early round linemen but I've also maintained that Havenstein is underrated and I expect Pro Bowl caliber performance from him this year. Without him, Evans wouldn't be our RG and I've seen nothing from Evans that makes me believe he is anywhere close to Havs. He can get abused by top shelf speed rushes at times but we tend to remember the 4by Leoram - RamsFootballFans.com
The only exception I have with this article is the assumption made about the "great" offensive line. I still believe this line is "functional" when the scheme protects them with runs and quick hitting passes but struggled when protecting long developing passes and have been particularly vulnerable against top defensive lines. Perhaps McVay and Stafford can creatively progressby Leoram - RamsFootballFans.com
NFL defenses require tactical proficiency and emotional drive. Last year's defense was a result of internal player leadership (Donald, Ramsey, JJ) and a unique strategy developed by both Staley and McVay. Morris' style reminds me of Saleh who was very effective as a coordinator for the 9'ers. I think his approach is genuine and natural and fits McVay's to a tee.
