I just want the calls to be correct. The offensive holding is just...offensive. The targeting calls need to be addressed by replay as well because too often a good tackle becomes an extension of a drive (see first half of the Rams/Patriots Super Bowl in 19. My father is a 9'er fan and really hopes you're right about Lance. He asked me when was the last time Alabama produced a great NFL QB. I said...Joe Namath. He said something about it being 60 years ago and I told him "that means they're due." It would be more fun to tease him about it if we at least beat them once in the last couple years. Deadpool, I'm too lazy to research you posts on Corbett. He did have a few noticeable whiffs last year but overall I saw good power and generally reliable technique. Overall, I believe he's a better than average NFL guard. What is it that makes you not a fan? We got him on the cheap like Blythe and got some good mileage out of him. While another pass rusher besides AD and Floyd is important, the Rams have been consistently good at the pass rush with a mixed bag of complimentary players. Another stud would certainly elevate the defense to another level and in that I concur. However, even "can't miss" prospects like Clowney are not guaranteed solutions and as zn has indicated, that investment beyond the first rouby Leoram - RamsFootballFans.com
Quotezn QuoteCoy Bacon Hey Leo, If I may, last year many of us thought that the OLine would be terrible, or at best mediocre but they did ok for themselves. I think we can be a bit confident in McVay and what's he doing with the OLine. Don't give up the ship too early, our coach has earned the benefit of the doubt. I think we can have some hope. Last year's OL was beaten badly in 4 or 5 gamby Leoram - RamsFootballFans.com
Stats are nice and give a frame of reference. It's the study of game film that tells the whole story as long as the student understands the concepts necessary for interpretation. Sean McVay is a student of the game. He knows what he is seeing when he watches film. He also knows what he wants from his QB. The investment the Rams made to acquire Stafford speaks volumes more than any stats.by Leoram - RamsFootballFans.com

If the Rams don't address the OLine, the deep passing game will still be a bad gamble even with Stafford. As for Reynolds, it's fair to say he was underutilized as Goff trusted Kupp and Woods to make adjustments better than Reynolds. With that said, I expect Josh to have better numbers and help the Titans offense but his drops and route running will keep him from ever being a top notch threat.by Leoram - RamsFootballFans.com

I think Dalton has been a darned good QB. I wanted the Rams to draft Garappolo. I believe the 9'ers are well coached and have tremendous talent. 43, I stumped for Hudson back in '15 and coveted him for the Rams ever since. I SERIOUSLY doubt they land him but I'd push even you, my friend, aside to be the first to welcome him to the team. Alas, I don't see where the money would come from.by Leoram - RamsFootballFans.com
Just a few questions... How many low first round picks is worth Stafford and Ramsey? How likely is it that any of those picks would produce as well as them either immediately or long term? Seems to me the antithesis of gamblingby Leoram - RamsFootballFans.com

While Stafford has the potential to improve the offense, I question the author's judgment that McVay's scheming can both hide the OLine's weaknesses while increasing downfield passing as that's a recipe for an increase in turnovers. I will retain my soapbox, UNLESS the OLine improves, the offense will not. Stafford can't win from his backside. Leaving Fuller out of the equation (mentioned earlby Leoram - RamsFootballFans.com
In 2001, I wanted Steve Hutchison. We took D. Lewis due to the need to improve the defense, but since Tom Mack, I've always believed the OLine was key to consistent offensive success. I believed I wanted the better player. In 2012, I wanted David DeCastro. Instead, we took Brockers. Perhaps that was a wash. In 2013, I wanted Jonathan Cooper for his athleticism and versatility. Quotezn No I don't buy the "it was all on Goff" story. Didn't during the season and not now. All sorts of things were going on, but one of them also was that McV was talking to the press about qb problems, the qb was saying he was surprised the coach had issues, and then after the trade McVay was saying he did not communicate. What we do know is what McVay has said so I will stay in that lane. Sean accepts responsibility for not putting his players in the best situations all the time. My broken record... You can't consistently produce downfield passes if the blocking doesn't allow the QB time to do so. McVay does manage to scheme explosives from the running game and quick passes with good YAC, but that's only part of the equation.by Leoram - RamsFootballFans.com

This is a fascinating thread that sums what I love and hate about this board. DZ makes a good generalized observation and ZN challenges it.
