The Rams had 7 minutes to cut a deal and they had no idea what the Eagles or anyone else was offering. They made the offer they thought they had to make to get the guy they wanted. Personally, I'm OK with that. The Rams might have overpaid for the 39th pick, but by the same measure the Falcons overpaid for the 35th pick and the Eagles overpaid for the 40th. It seems that the issue was more about the possibility of getting cut after this season. Once he plays this year there's no guaranteed money on his deal, making that a distinct (but unlikely) possibility. Stafford has asked the Rams to commit to him beyond this year, and it seems to me that it's nothing more than that. I think the Rams will do that by guaranteeing the $27M salary that's aby AlbaNY_Ram - RamsFootballFans.com

PFF publishes a list of snap counts broken down by offense, defense, and special teams. According to them, Rivers played 97 snaps on special teams last year while Evans played 51. The Rams as a team had 464 special teams plays: Rivers got in on 21% of them, Evans: 11%.by AlbaNY_Ram - RamsFootballFans.com
Market value each time, too. Thoughts on why no other team wanted to pay more than a 2nd and 5th for Faulk? Hindsight is wonderful, but no one thought the Rams got a deal at the time the trade took place. And then ... thoughts on why the asking price was so high for 2.39 this year?by AlbaNY_Ram - RamsFootballFans.com
It's along the same lines as paying back a $1,000 debt today as opposed to paying that debt a year from now. It's $1,000 either way, but future money isn't worth as much as today's money. (That's why interest is charged for delaying payment.) Draft picks work the same way, and it's been computed that way for decades (even for trades that the Rams aren't involved in). You really think Stafford would press the Rams for guaranteed money in '25 (and possibly '26) and then pull a fast one by retiring? Maybe I don't know a thing about Matthew Stafford, but that would be a shocker from where I sit.by AlbaNY_Ram - RamsFootballFans.com
According to the draft chart I linked the Rams overpaid for 2.39 by a 4th round pick. But so did the Falcons, when they moved up to 2.35. And so did the Eagles, when they moved up to 2.40. Those are the trades that preceded and followed the Rams' trade, suggesting (to me, at least) that this year's trade market was different than other years. Possible reasons? Do you think the Rams could have gotten the 39th pick for less? If so, why do you think they gave up as much as they did?by AlbaNY_Ram - RamsFootballFans.com
QuoteRamsdude Seems like we always give away players for less than their value and when we trade for a pick, we usually give up more than what is considered "fair". So, I ask, have "WE" ever been the ones to "fleece" some other team??? Not sure I can remember even one time we did! lol When a team is trading a player they don't get to determine his value. It would have been nice if they did ... but other than just to be nice I'm not sure why they would do that.by AlbaNY_Ram - RamsFootballFans.com
Did the Rams really get fleeced trading up for 2.39? I don't think so. With so many QBs, OTs, and WRs taken in RD1 is seems that a lot of high end talent at other positions got pushed into the second round, and that seems to have made those early RD2 picks with more than normal. When doing the calculations most people consider a 2nd round pick in next years' draft to be the same point value as the 16th pick in the 3rd round of this year's draft. So maybe the Rams didn't do so bad after all.by AlbaNY_Ram - RamsFootballFans.com

The Packers picked Love in 2020. Love was inactive every game in 2020. The Packers lost the NFC Championship game that year 31-26. If I was a Packers fan I would still be sick over that game. My best guess: the Rams think a young arm won't help them win a SB in the next 3 years. Chances are they won't have to use a QB2 in the first two weeks. And as IowaRam alluded to, if the Rams really want a young arm they'll pick one up after the draft (or even when cut downs take place). If by 'young arm' you mean 'QB of the future' ... it appears the Rams are looking to win now, not inby AlbaNY_Ram - RamsFootballFans.com

Two points that that author alludes to: Kyren Williams isn't always available. He missed 9 games in '22 with an ankle injury and another 5 games last year with an ankle sprain. There was a drop-off last year when KY subbed out. I think Corum addresses both issues. And yes, Corum is compared favorably to KY.
