with 9 regular season games , with the state championship game in the middle of Nov
weather wise , we start pushing our luck by the end of Oct
couple of reasons
one , we try and avoid playoff games in the freezing snow
and our football championship game will be played at the Uni Dome at the University of Northern Iowa on Nov 18th , but on that very same day is when High School Basketball season starts here in Iowa
so players on football teams that make it deap into the playoffs , get pretty much no practice time in before the basketball season starts
a small school like ours , the kids play every sport , well , most every sport
they'll go straight from Baseball , to Football , to Basketball / Wrestling , to Track and Field , to Graduation , with no breaks inbetween
one weird thing about the championship game here in Iowa , all schools play all their game outdoors including all playoypff games , into the middle of Nov
then.................
the actuall championship game is played indoors at the Uni Dome at the University of Northern Iowa
none of these kids have played an indoor game before ( unless their team made it to the championshiip game the prior year ) , but thats the only time , and very few have ever played on astroturf before , except maybe a few of the larger schools , it's a foreign environment for most of these kids to play a championship game in
