We played our final regular season game last night , and..............

We're District Champs !!!!!!!!!!!
it was a raw night last night , about 35 degrees with like a 35 MPH wind , which puts the windchill at about 20 degrees, no precept , but the sky's grey and dark
I thought for sure a couple weeks ago , when we lost our fist ( and only ) game , that would stop us from being district champs
but.........
three teams ended up tied for first place with a 6-1 record in the district , and 8-1 overall
those two other tough games I mentioned before , one of those teams we beat , one of those teams we lost to , but , the team we beat ended up beating the team we lost to , so the three of us ened up 6-1 ,
so ...........
the tie breaker came down to us , not sure how deap they went into the tie breaker formula , head to head was a round robin , strength of schedule , well , we play the same schedule , so it must of come down to points scored , or margin of victory , or something else , it gets complicated , in our favor
the final results weren't posted till early this morning
I always find the District Championship a huge deal , as we have no shot at a State Championship
there are 4 or 5 teams in the state , that are just heads and shoulders above the rest of us
the great thing about being District Champions , is that we'll get home Playoff games , at least the first one , maybe two
last year we finished District Runner Up's and had to play both our playoff games on the road , both were in Eastern Iowa , 4 hours away
but , I can aleady predict what will happen , we'll win our first playoff game , maybe the second , but thats as far as we'll get , this scenario has played it's self out many , many , many !!!!! , times over the years
no state bragging rights , but we'll get district bragging rights ,
I was just looking at our QB's stats for the year , he ranks 4th in the state with 2,283 all purpose yards , but you have to keep in the mind , in at least half those games this year , we had such large leads , he never played in the second half of those games , and I'm guessing the same can be said for the players ahead of him on that stat
the wife and I have already ordered our sweatshirts.................lol
