People are dying. Yes. Hundreds of thousands.

Unlike the 1918 pandemic, this is mostly isolated to the elderly and those with comorbidities. Not the young, those younger than 60.

The average age of those dying of COVID is around 75-80. The average age of dying of any reason is 78-79.

The problem in discussing this issue is that those who think this can be stopped by infringing on our rights of freedom and those who believe the government wants to place us under tyranny, just can't come to any agreement.

That's unfortunate. And severely detrimental to America.

We have to understand that people will become ill and people will die. Again, this is a once a century serious virus. We all want people to live. But people are going to die in spite of mandates, masks, shut downs, and whatever else is implemented.

Will a vaccine do the trick? Who knows? Vaccines, especially RNA vaccines, can have other serious side effects, so it remains to be seen what will happen. As a physician who has been effected by being unable to see as many patients, I hope it works. But who knows?

But the secondary consequences of prevention measures do have their effects as well, not to be dismissed as they are creating problems with people in large numbers. This country has handled the economic consequences to some degree, but someday those debts have to be covered. Going into more debt is not the answer, but getting the economy going again is paramount.
