That is actually a concern that my buddy has mentioned... his exact comment was the problem is, if we use it we had BETTER stay up with it, because it's not going to adjust to our mistakes.
Drummers around here are REALLY hard to find though, and they're inherently undependable. We had a kid lined up who is pretty good, he (we were told) said consistently for a month he wanted to play but couldn't practice the night we were meeting. Said he could come Monday nights. So they changed practice to Monday night, and an hour before time the first Monday, he texted that he was just too busy and had to drop out. At this point, the options are pretty much drum machine, no drums, or just don't play at all.
I'm thinking of it as a back up plan, really. I think we'd all much rather have a drummer.
I've always wanted one to mess around with though anyway, so I'm thinking even if we never use it, it might make practice at home more fun. I've got a couple of nice guitars that I don't play nearly enough. The "new" will wear off though, that's why I don't want to spend hundreds of dollars. A couple of hundred is no big deal though.
