Have a friend who did the same... ate so much salmon he got gout.... or at least he thinks that's what caused it.
Fresh seafood is pretty easy for me here... even though I'm not on the coast I'm only 2 hours away.
I think my favorite 'fish', (I prefer shellfish), is halibut. BUT... you really need to be a great chef to prepare it, and I'm NOT. I've tried but it never turns out like some of the great halibut I've had in restaurants. - JamesJM
Walleye's great as is smallmouth as you know.
I like to eat trout but I can't cook it well for some reason.
Scallops here are fresh. When I get thai food I even get that with scallops (eg. scallop pad thai).
Hake here is purty good too. I also bake that---mediterrean recipe. Again the issues is micro-refined perfect timing.
They have cod around here but to me cod is flavorless and has no interest.
