I'm not sure I have ever remembered a meal when traveling... well I remember the gnocchi I got on the Hill in STL. That was as memorable as the guy playing the violin at our table, lol...
I grew up in a chicken area.. We are called chicken pluckers by the more sophisticated Northern Delawareans. I probably eat chicken in some form every week... probably several times. We have pretty good fried chicken here... and there are several charcoal pits (not the restaurant). These are usually just some guys on the side of the road selling barbecued chicken and corn on the cob... and some kind of sweet roll that is evidently only made for guys selling chicken on the road, lol.
We have some pretty good restaurants here. A lot of them are very high end. But I think I prefer comfort food more... Now, we are serious about our seafood. I've never had seafood as good as it is here on the Eastern Shore. THAT said I haven't really been to enough places to warrant saying we have good food here. I know a guy from New York who moved here and all he could talk about was how bad our pizza is. lol
We have a pretty good Hispanic population here so I feel like we get at least something similar to authentic Mexican food. Growing up on Ortega, I still kind of long for the American versions, sigh..
As for the Maryland blue crabs... when they are good they are really darn good. But my favorite is Snow Crab legs (with drawn salted butter of course)... another food that has to be prepared just right or it just ruins it. Lima beans also come to mind as a food that need to be cooked just right. Ugh, same as shrimp... lol... I guess this could be an endless list. lol
