In the very early 1930s, he and his life long best friend decided....."We want to see the Pacific Ocean!" SO...They loaded up on his friend's 1929 Model A truck and from Jacksonville, off to California they went. My Grand father said they might drive 200-300 miles in a day..they might drive just 20. They would stop sometimes for days to earn money doing odd jobs. They reached the Pacific, close to Santa Monica...waded in the Ocean, knee deep for 30 minutes and then turned right back around! LOL I think they spent 3-4 months on the road. Man! My Grandfather's Bud passed away in June 1978 and I KNOW my Grandfather was never the same.
