Youngblood has some solid takes, as does Jourdan
What I missed was what might have been a block that Kupp didn't get from Higbee?
Very frustrated with the play calling on the last offensive set.
I was sharply against that end around, but perhaps I missed a key issue.
I listened to the podcast last night.
The issue with Higbee on that play wasn't that he didn't block his man. It was that he didn't really hold the point of attack. Instead, the defender pushed him back. So far back that it forced Kupp to stretch the play farther to the sideline than perhaps he would've preferred as he was trying to get as many yards as he could
while staying inbounds. They then went on to discuss whether or not it was possible for Kupp to cut back inside for more yardage as opposed to sliding down.
As for the last offensive series, Rich Hammond could see why McVay wanted to call run plays. With only 1:45 on the clock, he wanted to exhaust Tampa Bay's timeouts and turn things over to the defense which had played so well throughout the game.
It didn't work out, but I can't fault that logic.
It wasn't very creative and wasn't fooling anyone. If Kupp makes it past Higbee, there are 4 Bucs there ready to tackle him. Kupp would have really have had to work to get the first.
I am more upset with McVay's lack of creativity there than I am with Higs.
How many times are we gonna run that same jet sweep and WR screen with Kupp before Kupp gets hurt? EVERYBODY in the NFL knows it's coming. Surely there is a way to play on their over confidence by changing it up?
#HelmetHornsMatter
“Well, the color is good, I like the metallic blue,” Youngblood recently said while laughing, via NFL Journal. “The horn is terrible. It looks like a ‘C.’ When I first saw it on the logo I honestly thought it was a Charger logo.
“Now when I see it on the helmet, it just isn’t a ram horn. There is no distinct curl like a mature ram horn. I don’t know how the Rams could get that wrong. That is your symbol and it has been for what? Seventy years or more? Longer than I have been alive? It’s just not us, it’s not the Rams.”---Mr. Ram Jack Youngblood
