Youngblood has some solid takes, as does Jourdan
What I missed was what might have been a block that Kupp didn't get from Higbee?
Very frustrated with the play calling on the last offensive set.
I was sharply against that end around, but perhaps I missed a key issue.
I listened to the podcast last night.
The issue with Higbee on that play wasn't that he didn't block his man. It was that he didn't really hold the point of attack. Instead, the defender pushed him back. So far back that it forced Kupp to stretch the play farther to the sideline than perhaps he would've preferred as he was trying to get as many yards as he could
while staying inbounds. They then went on to discuss whether or not it was possible for Kupp to cut back inside for more yardage as opposed to sliding down.
As for the last offensive series, Rich Hammond could see why McVay wanted to call run plays. With only 1:45 on the clock, he wanted to exhaust Tampa Bay's timeouts and turn things over to the defense which had played so well throughout the game.
It didn't work out, but I can't fault that logic.
