No JY53, I just bristle at posters who wield stats as if they are the only and final word.
By this articles math, trading for Miller was pointless because we posted the same numbers without him that we achieved with him.
.
The articles math was accurate. But two things can be true at the same time.
The defense did not improve in any significant way AND Miller was a good pickup
at the same time.
When the defense picked up was the playoffs. Miller was great, A-Rob showed up, and Weddle was excellent, a smart leader
who didn't miss tackles. . .
Miller, as was pointed out in yesterday's game, is a closer. Plays big in big games.
he was good, but not dominant in regular season, But was dominant in playoffs
in clutch situations.
The thing about stats is they cannot be tainted by bias, by things people
think they saw at one point but didn't.
People are conflating the playoffs with the 2nd half of season.
Miller had 1 sack in first six games with Rams...
Then 3 in final 2 weeks
then 4 in 4 playoff games---including 2 in Super Bowl
He had 16 hurries in 4 playoff games, and 24 in 8 regular season games
2/3 the huirries in half the games---
Miller did not come in and dominate---it took a month and a half
but it was still a good move
but the facts are he didn't change the defense the second half of the
year, because the defense was not significantly better the second
half of the year.
Playoffs? Yeah. Several players upped their game and defense
was excellent.
As I said, stats are better than people's eyes. People's eyes
don't take notes and while stats not perfect, they are more
reliable than memories.
