And I think this is what we, save a few diehards, are having an issue with. It's not the bend but don't break philosophy as much as it is the situational football where the coaching becomes an issue. The scheme is fine and I think Morris' defense is going a good job overall. And the stats show exactly that. But it's misleading because of the lack of ability to adjust is devastating. This past Sunday Morris was always two steps behind.
I didn't like the hire but wasn't against it either. I think the defense overall is solid. And how couldn't it be with the talent on that side of the ball? If you have the best D lineman and best CB in the league the defense should be pretty good.
I am not necessarily a fan of the bend but don't break philosophy so its tough for me to watch. I didn't care for it last season either but the results were hard to argue with. However the offense was so pedestrian that I think that made things easier on the defense. I don't recall beating the niners last season either... Nor do I remember their QB's having any trouble.
