I agree 100% about tackling. Definitely an issue this year that seemingly was not last year. And that is in part coaching. And certainly part of the 3rd downs issue is directly tied to tackling.
I was mainly trying to just refute an overreach that Morris somehow ruined a great defense. In many areas they are still top 5. In a few they are actually better than last year. And in some, yes, they're regressed too much. Some of the comments on the board act like this defense went from #1 to 25th. It hasn't.
Understood 93. I don't think Morris "ruined" our D. As you said, it is STILL a very good D...just not as good as last year in some very crucial areas that I think could lead to an earlier than anticipated exit from the playoffs.
IMO, the buck stops with the DC. He might not be the ONLY reason for the decline in those areas but he is a big part of it.
I am also not a fan of his "in-game" adjustments. IMO, Staley seemed better at that. Some games, it seemed like Morris didn't "adjust" at all.
It seemed to take Morris 3/4 of the season to finally adjust to some of the issues which is way too long.
Morris seems not play up to his players strengths by putting them in bad positions that are not suited for them.
Playing Ramsey in the "Star" position was a waste IMO. Too many times I saw Ramsey lined up against the 3rd or 4th WR. Last week he even got some snaps covering the FB! That is a ridiculous waste of talent IMO and is 100% on Morris.
#HelmetHornsMatter
“Well, the color is good, I like the metallic blue,” Youngblood recently said while laughing, via NFL Journal. “The horn is terrible. It looks like a ‘C.’ When I first saw it on the logo I honestly thought it was a Charger logo.
“Now when I see it on the helmet, it just isn’t a ram horn. There is no distinct curl like a mature ram horn. I don’t know how the Rams could get that wrong. That is your symbol and it has been for what? Seventy years or more? Longer than I have been alive? It’s just not us, it’s not the Rams.”---Mr. Ram Jack Youngblood
