Is that he still gets tied up in his reads. It's not consistently smooth. And it's why the offense will look stop and start and his play is so streaky. It is similar to what we were seeing with Goff tbh. You can't get hung up on the wrong guys and run a highly efficient offense.
Also he's still raw in certain ways. Like late first half when he had a chance to run a 2 minute drill and scrambled around wasting time when it wasn't there instead of throwing it out of bounds and controlling the offense in that mode. He is not quite there yet and that's ok.
But all the things you mention... The calmness in the pocket, the off sched ability, and all that, I agree with. He made the team last night. I think that's a cool moment in this preseason too. I woke up this morning real happy with last night's game in part because of Perkins. Finding a QB3 was a nice roster change for us. It doesn't have to turn into a "let's make it more than what it was" thing with crazy overreactions.
