But, at this point, I'm just looking at Goff as if he was any other QB for any other team. If Baker Mayfield or Jimmy Garrapolo or whoever was doing the same thing, I think I'd feel the same way. I think it's worth taking notice if an NFL starter is taking check downs in practice instead of using that time to be more aggressive than they might be in game situations. If you aren't pushing the envelope in practice, it makes it hard to imagine you'd suddenly do that when the real games start.
If a QB is playing tentatively and like they are afraid to make mistakes, especially in practice, it suggests that their head may not be in the right place IMO.
But I also admit, I didn't personally like Goff. Many thought he was a great guy but I thought he was a phony. I could be wrong but until it's proven otherwise, there were things about that rubbed me the wrong way and when those got compounded with his poor play on the field, it made it all too easy for me to say goodbye. He's Detroit's problem now.
