That sounds like he deliberately sometimes does NOT want continuity. The downside to continuity is staleness.
Well Staley was that. Phillips wasn't and neither is Morris. Besides, the fact that McV isn't interested in promotion isn't a plus for me. It just tells me there's something he doesn't get yet.
You don't get staleness just cause you have a new coordinator in the same system. A new approach is part of promoting from within too. The promoted guy can tweak stuff cause he knows what's there. You can have a different coordinator through promotion who knows the system and brings fresh ideas too.
