The problem on most team boards is fans digging in on one side of the extreme or the other. I have no problem though calling his Miami or SF games for the pile of excrement they were, even as many were making excuses and blaming other things like McVay. Or for that matter giving him cred when he had a great game vs Tampa, even as many were making excuses and giving all the credit to McVay.
I'm of the mind that the players really matter too. Which not all fans are.
As to 2021 in Detroit I'm not sure which guy it will be to be honest. But I do think he's got a lack of weapons in that offense thus I don't see a top performing season for him statistically. But that's something he can turn in his favor if he is patient and careful with the ball, by leading them to some meaningful wins. And I hope they have a strong run game. Because if they don't things might get ugly for him.
I found that extreme POV's were often used to try and win an argument.
But overall production and consistency were very clear problems that Goff developed and never got out of. He had high points but he also had too many low points. I don't see why any of that is controversial or even an argument. After 2 1/2 years of the same inconsistency, McVay got fed up. There isn't anything mysterious about it.

I agree with this statement. Goff struggled mightily against teams that had the right personnel to run the 6-1 defensive alignment. It is something that Mcvay did everything he could to help Goff suceed. After the Miami, Frisco and Jet games, Mcvay had enough.
